Some people seem to think smoothy Martinez is some soft touch.
His players act to his instructions and Roy Keane had his number about getting McCarthy and Coleman out of internationals.

We were bnloody unlucky not to get anything out of that game. I thought we battled well and had the chances to get at least a point.

I think the main positive for me is that here we had a team that was four of our most important players short and we still ran Everton close.

They resorted to physical play and cheating and route one. Very unlike a Martinez side. But they were desperate for the win and it showed at the end. Looks like Martininez, when it comes to the crunch, will resort to anything.

I think this game shows how far we have come when we are disappointed not to get something at Everton with a depleted first team.

"Don't forget the supposed 'head injury' from which their bloke seemed to recover in about 2 seconds once they'd got Clattenburg to stop the game and cause us to lose momentum. I wasn't convinced by the stretcher incident either."

Agreed. There's a pint of beer with my mate that says Naismith plays in the next match. They gave the cunt a tour of the ground and just wasted more time before bringing on a sub they were probably going to bring on anyway.

How could Barkley anticipate a challenge from someone behind him he couldn't see?

Diving cunt

Don't forget the supposed 'head injury' from which their bloke seemed to recover in about 2 seconds once they'd got Clattenburg to stop the game and cause us to lose momentum. I wasn't convinced by the stretcher incident either. That caused about a 5 minute break to our siege on their goal. Overall, a cheating bunch of fuckers, confirmed by the way Martinez said today that Barkley wasn't a cheat because he went down in anticipation of contact from Nolan. Still, I can't wait til they play our first team in the home game

Everton's football under Martinez is interesting. Looks like almost the same shit brand of desperation stuff they turned out under Moyes.

Never start CARROLL AND CFC again...

They are only a last resort chasing a game with aerial bombardment in last 20s mins...Zarate or Jarvis for CFC

If both not match fit...45 mins each...

Re: Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-1
Meant to add that Tomkins' reaction to being shoved was unacceptable but Barkley was a massive cunt throughout and conned Clattenburg who bottled two or three calls. Mirallas should've gone for that lung on Alfie as it was an appalling challenge and by booking Barkley for diving he would have stopped any further play acting. Not to mention Lukaku being well offside.

I suppose that's what happens if you get a Northern ref.

Re: Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-1
At least I'm leaving matches now feeling that there are positives even when we lose. The fight is still there but we needed a better final ball yesterday.

I don't buy that that was the best team available Zarate looked fit enough to me, ditto Jarvis (who I thought did well and I've been critical of him in the past) but Cole was just awful. Yet again, Carroll was winning headers but nobody was running off him to get on the knockdowns.

Everton will play better than that this season and lose and we will play worse and win. Not the first time they have got a lucky result against us but we were always at a disadvantage from the moment that starting XI was announced IMO.

What's the situation with Valencia? My mate reckon Allardyce may have written that match off and Valencia will start next week. That wouldn't surprise me.

Allardyce hasn't got a great record against the 'fraud' has he?

Re: Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-1
It was definitely the wrong starting 11. Everyone groaned when they found out what it was. Why does Allardyce revert to his default settings when confronted with situations like this. We saw last year that Cole and Carroll just does not work at all (anyone and Cole doesn't work). We did have options, so why not try them? That may have involved dropping Nolan, so I've answered my own question.

With injuries preventing BFS from playing his 2014/15 style he reverted to type. We should not be surprised and but for their offside opener being allowed we would have come away with a draw.

I don't like three specialist centre-backs in the defensive set up though.

I think that most people are criticising the manager's initial starting XI - which is justified, in my book...

We hadn't lost for 5 games, then we lose narrowly away to a good team and people are on Allardyce's back again.

Leave it ahrrrrrt!

Re: Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-1
It always seems strange that Allardyce doesn't see what everyone else does re Cole and RVT. They are not premiership quality (even if CFC once was) and simply take up some potentially better players position on the pitch. It would be better to play a younger reserve - at least they would learn something from their time on the field.
BFS also showed intense frustration with RVT when he brought him on in a home game earlier this season, so why repeat the mistake?
