Don't want to dwell on it too much but the free kick was rashly given away in the first place and then we simply didn't defend it well at all. Not Adrian's fault, IMO.

To be honest, for the first 20 mins we were totally asleep and made them look good.

Mistakes happen in EVERY game ever played, people and players are not robots, I would guess a large percentage of goals scored come from a mistake somewhere along the line of passage of play.
Pointless discussing or blaming players for making mi9stakes as it'sw as much part of thye game as fouls are, without either the game would prob be pretty dull.

The free kick was needlessly given away in the first place, that's where the blame should lie

Still, he atoned later on

Re: WBA v West Ham - Official Match Thread 1-2 FT
Dawson ran past our static players and finished it well. Our defending was a shambles though.
Nothing wrong with putting your hands up when conceding a goal to brilliant play but that wasn't good enough.

Far Cough 4:32 Wed Dec 3
Re: WBA v West Ham - Official Match Thread 1-2 FT
Or you could say, Dawson was in the best position to head the ball in, sometimes there's fuck all you can do about it

Anyway, wasn't that off of the back of the free kick that Tomkins gave away on Anichebe?

Re: WBA v West Ham - Official Match Thread 1-2 FT
We appeared to be marking zones or a line and no one actually moved to attack the ball or to block/challenge their player who did move.
Sometimes you can think too much in these defensive situations and no one takes responsibility for the actual act of defending.

Eddie

I`d say that was more right place, right time mate

Not manning your back post however when there`s a 6 foot plus centre half there is a proper schoolboy error

You`ll often get punished for that in the lower divisions, in the premiership you`ll almost always get punished

Re: WBA v West Ham - Official Match Thread 1-2 FT
Their goal was a joke Dawson just ran through a group of players for an unchallenged header! Adrian had no chance

arcelona, you could say the same for their goal.

Re: WBA v West Ham - Official Match Thread 1-2 FT
The defending for Tomks winner suggests WBA are going to be bang in trouble this season

Cruised towards the back post and the only bloke there marking him was 3 yards away and far shorter

Still scractching my head as to how we got a win last night as we were seven different shades of shit for most of the match but a very welcome 3 points!

second half i was never that worried- they had a lot of the ball but never really forced any saves out of Adrian...

Ye righto

___
honestly, I was in the back row (XX) it was a long way away, I saw a few skirmishes and him fucking around with a back pass, and yeah maybe the other one youve talked about , but nothing that TREMENDOUS.

Maybe I'm just and eternally POSITIVE cunt who thinks he's tad overhyped...the first goal was a fucking awfull series of defensive mistakes, him included

Re: WBA v West Ham - Official Match Thread 1-2 FT
Adrian made several crucial saves in the second half last night

One outstanding at his near post from anichibe, very strong hand! But keepers do get busier when you invite teams to attack you.

He was busier last night than against Newcastle.

yawn. a good night that was.

just looking at the highlights again- their first goal we never set up to defend it we were all over the shop- like i said just before they scored- a sunday pub league goal!

Our two- on another day carroll would have been sent off for dangerous play ( look how close his boot is to defenders head)

second was great from tomka- look how carroll is being impeded by lescott...

second half i was never that worried- they had a lot of the ball but never really forced any saves out of Adrian.

Cracking three points- we always used to lose these games!

Maybe so, but Amichibe tore him a new one, he passed lamely into touch under no pressure several times and I suspect he'll be bench-warming again come Sunday.

Respect to him though for a massive second half improvement.

Re: WBA v West Ham - Official Match Thread 1-2 FT
May have been mentioned before, but am I correct in thinking that our last nine goals have been scored by nine different players?
