Would Adebayour count as one of the 5 'world class' players Sulli mentioned last week?

Sven Roeder 10:24 Mon Mar 23
Re: West Ham v Sunderland - Official Match Thread FT 1-0
What has been the success this season ..... signing hungry 25yo's like Cresswell, Sahko & Kouyate.
That should be the profile of players we are looking at along with players 2 or 3 years younger.
Adebayour is just the sort of player we need to be moving away from.

Re: West Ham v Sunderland - Official Match Thread FT 1-0
I think that if BFS tells the owners that he wants to sign Adebayour for next season it will seal his fate.

Re: West Ham v Sunderland - Official Match Thread FT 1-0
I agree One Mc. Over 30 big, black and athletic which SA seems to love for some strange reason but also a miserable unmotivated stroller who will cost millions and score less than AC....

Would be a fucking awful signing. Hopefully Sullivan will tell him to do one.

Re: West Ham v Sunderland - Official Match Thread FT 1-0
I'm a bit worried about this Adebayor transfer gossip - he's definitely an improvement on Carthorse, but I think it will mean BFS will play him up top for the 35 matches Andy Carroll misses through injury.

Fallen back into the trap of last season and our performances.

Re: West Ham v Sunderland - Official Match Thread FT 1-0
Sam's biggest problem with our forward set up is that he is very set in his ways and wants a big man in the middle trying to head crosses in from too deep up the pitch.

Ironically our early season set up of Valencia and Sahko as split forwards playing wide confuses centre backs and as they start deeper it lets Jenkinson and especially Cresswell get further up the pitch to cross.
This can then let the strikers win headers by making runs in from wide ..... think Sahko v Man City or Valencia at Burnley
Both are actually good in the air especially if they can end up jumping over a full back while the centre half wonders where they are.

Willtell 9:42 Mon Mar 23
Re: West Ham v Sunderland - Official Match Thread FT 1-0
I think taking Jarvis off was the right thing to do. Using two forwards to put crosses in was a waste as Sakho had two Sunderland CB's to contend with. Cole did at least keep the Sunderland CB's busy allowing Sakho a bit of freedom....

That's the problem with SA's preferred formation - 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 as he calls it. Having 2 forwards is just so un-Sam like but he keeps going back to the only thing he knows and trusts...

Re: West Ham v Sunderland - Official Match Thread FT 1-0
JGW, he's messing with the player. He does not play him at all, and takes him off after 45min. He wasn't bad at all as our main problem was speed and shape in the central midfield.

Nolan should have been replaced with amalfitano or poyet.

Re: West Ham v Sunderland - Official Match Thread FT 1-0
What was the story with Jarvis going off at half time. Injured or did BFS just realise that he is a massive pile of stinking shit?

Heroic performance is a tad ott but he made important clearances throughout the match, the art of clearing isn't in the getting your foot or head to the ball but being in the correct position at the right time to do so, something he does well imo.

Collins cleared the ball a few times, therefore is interpreted as a heroic defensive performance.

Re: West Ham v Sunderland - Official Match Thread FT 1-0
Ginge isn't blessed with pace so it's unsurprising he had trouble with Defoe and the ball over the top. Him and Kouyate are not a pairing you want against a forward like Defoe but he made some great tackles.

His passing wasn't great but then again it never is.

He did what was asked of him. My MOTM too.

Re: West Ham v Sunderland - Official Match Thread FT 1-0
Collins MOTM? What game were you watching?

Complete mismatch against an out-of-sorts Defoe, constantly got caught out by the strikers runs in behind. Misfired every pass he played and errors with gifting the ball to the opposition numerous times. He's been one of our best players in the second half of the season, but yesterday he had one of his stinkers.

MikeHammer 5:33 Sun Mar 22
Re: West Ham v Sunderland - Official Match Thread FT 1-0
Dicksie... I agree that Collins was MOTM... An excellent performance amongst some awful ones. We probably just about deserved the win. Not sure why the manager played one up front for half the game against a team and the same defence who let in 4 last week. Anyway... He isn't going to get a new contract so let's move on.

dicksie3 5:19 Sun Mar 22
Re: West Ham v Sunderland - Official Match Thread FT 1-0
Collins was my MOTM again with a solid display in an otherwise very ordinary team performance...

We were the better team in the second-half and you could argue that we just about deserved the 1-0 victory... Just about...

Still, the rot has come to an end and let's hope that this improves the players' confidence and we can do well in our final run of games and try and get that 8th spot finish...

That would mean progress and the manager, whatever we might think of him at times, will have deserved a new deal...
