On the way to the match I said I thought Bilic would put Oxford on the bench and play Obiang as a 16 year old can't maintain that level of performance all season. It seemed obvious to me that playing Obiang would be protecting Oxford and be a safer option. I was surprised he started. Apart from that, I can't criticise much that Bilic did, he was let down by the players in the first half.

Automatic 3 match ban though isn't it? Is there a 1 game option that the FA can take?

Re: West Ham v Leicester - Official Match Thread FT 1-2
I've just watched back the goals from yesterday. Two things I noticed which were not obvious from the game on Saturday. Firstly from where we sit it was not clear that Kasper had fouled Sakho but on playback I cannot understand how the ref and Lino missed it. Secondly Adrian seemed unlucky insofar as he never saw Vardy but only had eyes for the ball. Dangerous play at worst but not a deliberate foul so hopefully just a one match ban.

Still enjoyed some of the football we played yesterday. If the ref hadn't been such a cunt then we could have gone in 1-2 at HT and them down to 10. I recon we would have got a draw or win then.

Aslo don't underestimate Leicester. Good side and Ranieri's no mug.

You did wonder after such a great result last week how they would perform. Perhaps expectations so high, some nerves to perform well at home.
Taking this result as a welcome back to the real world, so hopefully the players and management will knuckle down and sort a number of areas out which were unacceptable yesterday.
Maybe this wake up call so early on will be a good thing further down the line.

Hindsight of course and obvious I suppose but I think we would have won or at least got a point yesterday if Obiang had started instead of Oxford. Not the kids fault but he is not a DM really and got exposed yesterday and did not have the compact deep lying unit to protect him like he did at Arsenal. Home game we had to take the game to them and left him exposed.

Bilic probably wanted to replace him in the first half but protected him to some extent by waiting until half time. As being replaced after 20 mins could seriously impact confidence and is almost humiliation which the manager caused to a large extent. We were 2 goals down and it could have well been 3 or 4 before he could make the change. We looked a lot better 2nd half although the need for a wide player on the right is obvious now.

There was plenty of attacking play down the right in the 2nd half infact the goal came about from down that side, Noble with the ball in I believe. Jenkinson got into some good positions late on but did look tired and wasted the opportunities. We just gave ourselves too much to do to get back into the game and off course the ref didn't help.

After his first game for Leicester's year I said Mahrez was the real deal and we should sign him while we can! Too late now. Just the sort of lively wide player we need.

Not one to blame the ref but if he had done his job properly and given us a blatant penalty on Sakho in the first half may well have been a different outcome.

Re: West Ham v Leicester - Official Match Thread FT 1-2
I'm not sure Valencia has the end product of those players.
Not really a dribbler or someone who is going to run at players.
I'd still be interested in Halilovic and Moses if he is available.
Not a winger but someone who can stretch the play and give Payet some space.

Re: West Ham v Leicester - Official Match Thread FT 1-2
Should have added Mahrez to that.
Tricky player and gave Cresswell an absolute chasing in the first half particularly.

Sven, if Enner had been fit he would have provided speed and width.

I woner what Julian thinks off Cresswell? Not impressed is my hunch. Like Reid he needs to stop worrying if his hair is out of place, the big tart.

Re: West Ham v Leicester - Official Match Thread FT 1-2
The problem is balance.
Yesterday we had one striker & when we threw everything at them in Payet, Zarate & Lanzini we ended up with 3 number 10's on the pitch.
Our best spell was when Obiang helped us up the tempo and Zarate stayed wide left but that's not his natural position and it was short lived.
We got nothing down the right where Noble and Jenkinson plodded and tripped over their own feet more often than not.
We need Carroll & Song asap and 4 more players particularly some that can play wide.
Players like Montero, A Ayew & Redmond are showing so far this season what we are lacking.

I don't like to criticise Oxford due to his age and inexperience but Bilic was right when he said that he was unfazed buy things. He was certainly unfazed by the danger when they got their two goals!

Cresswell was dogshit. I have a lot of time for Zarate as he seems to try hard and has shown that he has some a lot of ability. Maiga - oh my God!

Just an unfortunate bad day at the office against a not very good team. Handed them two easy goals that we couldn't come back from. Totally over-ran them in the second half. I note that they only had 44% possession at home to the shitty Sunderland. As someone said about them on TV yesterday, Leicester are "effective". They did the job both times despite them not bossing the game.

Some refs send Vardy off and give us the penalty. We're then top of the league and flying.

Payet is top draw but let's himself down occasionally by gifting the opposition with the ball very easily!
