One of the great images of yesterday was winston reid smiling and smirking at mourhinio when the ref went over there after matic had been sent off.

What is ridiculous is that it could be argued that team is 4/5 players from our strongest 11, Song, Reid, Ogbonna, Moses and maybe Valencia could be considered 1st choices. Fucking amazing really, dont know how its happened but fucking loving it.

Fabregas's knee was offside.
Close decision but an excellent one by the lino.

I note Hazards head was offside when he scored the winner at UP last season and no one gave a shit. And that decision was WRONG.
In hindsight the sending off , the disallowed goal and the goal line clearance by Lanzini were all right. Mourinho should be banned from stadiums til he admits that. Any further offence should give him a season long ban.

Now lets watch as Allardyce tries to grind out a win and ends up being spanked 3-0!

Got to agree - we looked like a team, that was toe to toe and we didn't look out of place. A couple of of our lesser players were shown up a couple of times but the likes of:

Adrian
Creswell
Jenkinson
Tomkins
Kouyate
Carroll
Valencia
Ogbonna

Are top 6-8 material, where as players like:

Reid
Song
Payet
Lanzini
Sakho

Are definite top 4 players with Payet world class. If Sakho adds a few more goals to his game this season he would be in the same bracket.

We still have Noble, Zarate, Collins in and around the first team who are certainly Prem players, but probably around the mid table level of ability.

Overall though, what a squad we have! By far the best I've ever seen in my lifetime, full credit to the scouts and manager for bringing them together on our budget. We could easily sneak into the top 4 this season - we just need to learn how to play like a potential top 4 team and break down those that will undoubtedly sit back and try to hit us on the break at Upton Park. This will be Bilic's biggest challenge this season now.

What an amazing time for us all though - as an old chap said to me when i was a 9 year old at the FA Cup semi final in 1991, "enjoy every minute, this is West Ham - it might not ever happen again!"

Sakhos work rate brings so many others into the game, he presses high relentlessly, he can carry the ball as well, and his hold up play is excellent.

The goals aren't flowing for him at the moment but who gives a shit once we're winning

Re: West Ham v Chelsea - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
It was offside and Adrian didn't attempt to save the shot either. Nolan was given offside at Old Trafford last sesaon for even less. That cost us a point.
No argument not sure what the issue is?

Re: West Ham v Chelsea - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
It was offside, the linesman put his flag up, the goal didn't count.
Who gives a fuck what the pundits think?
A superb performance by all, no reason whatsoever why we can't challenge the top four.
Results speak for themselves.

I just watched that again.

I actually think he saves that relatively easily if he tries, it wasn't that hard and it wasn't in the corner.

Not a great habit to get into, always play to the whistle we were always told but he was sure offside had been given in my opinion.

What I don't understand is this disallowed goal...

People understand that Adrian saw the flag and stopped playing..

I'm going big. That was in the top 3 of all time favourite games for me. It felt like two proper teams having a real go at each other. We are no longer a plucky under dog begging for scraps, we've got genuine quality. I thought Lanzini was magnificent in the first half. The last two summer transfer windows have been an incredible success.

Contrast that with the game at Old Trafford last season when Nolan's nose was given offside and the meeja pundits all agreed that it was close but undoubtedly the correct decision.

Fabregas' knee was ahead of the last defender when the ball was passed to him so close, but nonetheless offside and correctly called

Sakho is excellent and every bit a top class Premier League player. A few more goals would be the icing on the cake.

Re: West Ham v Chelsea - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
I can't understand anyone thinking sahko isn't the best forward we have. Does anyone really think we would have so many victories without him up there?

The thing with sahko is you have a combination of things. He is a balanced player. He can finish, he has pace and he has incredible work rate. So no defender can forget about him. He is a constant nuisance for the opposing defense and means they can't push up because of the threat he could carry out.

Contrast that with Carroll who, for all his skill isn't going to do 100m dash and get behind anyone's defense. So teams can push up if Carrolls leading the line which would put more pressure on our midfield. As much as Carroll is a good technical player I'd still play sakho or Valencia up front before caroll. Pace kills teams nowadays. You really do need it.

Re: West Ham v Chelsea - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
Fabregas appeared offside to me (though I've not studied it again), the whistle went and Adrian made no attempt to save. Yet a lot of media are saying that it should have been allowed. Strange.

Prometheus50 9:42 Sun Oct 25
Re: West Ham v Chelsea - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
The Zouma effort was not over the line. Fabregas was offside. Matic committed two yellow card offences

Nothing remotely controversial as all decisions were called correctly
