If Ayew had stayed on the pitch Villa could have got something out of the game.

His agent has probably told him that he's better off if they go down as his release clause will kick in resulting a big payday for everyone

Lily, I reckon you are right there mate. An elbow to the face is too strong a reaction to the minor tussle they were having.

Also Villa in the second half camp in their own half all game , the only time they didn't was for the corner where we then scored from .

Re: West Ham v Aston Villa - Official Match Thread FT 2-0
Payet didn't play bad , but now teams see things go through him everytime he got the ball even with villa having 10 men they had 2 -3 players on him.

Probably why Song was sitting in acres of space in the middle of the park all game.

This is why when this happens we need the other players to then push on with the gaps that have been produced by Payet being a marked man .

Noble did that perfectly in the second half .

Is there a link to the goals anywhere please?

Does anyone know what was going on between the Chicken Run and the Villa supporter in the red top in the second half? It was right at the time we scored the first goal (I know this because I was looking at the crowd and missed the goal!)

I'm convinced Ayew reacted to Creswell's hand on his shoulder. I reckon Creswell was giving his tendon near the shoulder a good pinhc, which hurts like a bastard.

It's an old trick defenders do when marking, or when helping up an opponent and lifting them up under the armpit, whilst giving that a good pinch, causes the player to lash out and push the "help" away, while the defender innocently looks at the ref and says "You see what he's like?"

Worked a treat last night.

Poor first half but far better second. The way the game panned out it was set up for a fit Andy Carroll to run riot the way Villa sat deep but we scraped it anyway without it being a best performance.

Certainly been wondering about whether Bilic could have swapped Valencia and Antonio over as Antonio is a better target in the air than Enner.

Only concern is that too many games we start slow and take time to get going but you can't grumble how things are going right now.

Payet is getting a lot of obvious attention from the opposition allowing Noble more freedom. Yes Noble he had an excellent game albeit against a very poor Villa down to 10 men. Lets hope it continues. I also hope he can keep his discipline as he probably should have been given a red for a second yellow.

Our subs, or lack thereof, was quite unusual last night.

Villa will be fuming at Ayew as they were on top early.
That said it serves them right for signing Andre Ayew's Dad after the son went to Swansea.
They defended pretty well with 10 men but after we scored they still kept all 10 men within 30m of goal and it was a bit like shooting fish in a barrel.

We need to start a lot quicker against Southampton though and move the ball a hell of a lot better.
Said last night a bit of a refresh of the team might not be a bad idea.

Re: West Ham v Aston Villa - Official Match Thread FT 2-0
Made hard work of it but at HT i was confident we'd win the game, think thats the difference under Slav

Few players were off their game - Payet & Antonio needed to have far more influence from the wide positions. Yes i know Antonio scored but he was poor for him last night.

Noble MOTM by a mile, Valencia cant play up top against physical centre halves and Song gets too much grief, the amount of times he wins the ball back is unreal

Oh he believes it alright, which is why he disappears when he gets embarrassed by people who aren't failed footballers who think that Payet is a poor man's Ayew and Mo Diame is one of the best midfielders in the country.
