Also, this playing a recording of the crowd singing bubbles 10 minutes before kick off, as on Saturday, is making my skin crawl.

Carroll's role is normally to be at the near post and just attack balls and head them away.
Which he normally does very effectively
For the second goal he missed the ball. Whether it was because the players in front of him got a nick on it and deflected it past him I don't know
We seem to have a knack of that
We were going to clear the goal that Costa tapped in the other day and Kouyate defected away from Fonte I think it was.
All those seem to end up in the net when we are defending

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Leicester - Official Match Thread FT 2-3
Reid was marking Huth before the injury with Carroll marking space at front of 6 yard box, when Reid went off Antonio marked Huth at corners and Carroll stayed marking space.
Why? Surely Antonio should have marked the space and Carroll mark Huth.

These little things that Bilic, or players, do not see.

Anyway, out of everything that happened on Saturday the only thing I took away from the match is that I'd like to see Masuaku replace Cresswell until the end of the season as I genuinely have been impressed with him every time I have seen him play. (I was on holiday when we played West Brom away so can't comment on that but heard it was a bit of a shocker).

Still, can't be any worse than how things are right now, looked very comfortable and confident going foward with the ball.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Leicester - Official Match Thread FT 2-3
From memory I thought that Fonte was marking Huth and he just let him go. Similar thing happened where Fonte was marking Vardy at the corner, switched off, ball bounced to him and wallop, 3-1 down.

Was a comedy of mistakes from the defence in general for those two goals in particular though.

Randolph should of saved the first one as well when you watch it back and see his position.

Who was meant to be marking Huth for their 2nd?

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Leicester - Official Match Thread FT 2-3
Its 2 days later and I am as depressed now as on Saturday. Even a skin full Saturday night has not helped.

I see a squad with big holes in it. The lack of mobility and inability to press or be pressed for space is an enormous problem and was last season after teams adjusted to Payet etc. That declining run of form at the end of last season carried on into this and was not addressed in the transfer market. No wonder we have gone backwards.

Nearly a whole new spine needed. Goalkeeper, central midfielder and striker of quality. These have to be quality not loans or punts or last chance saloon panic buys after Sullivan continually thinks he can get a deal. We can get quality but will have to overpay onn fees and wages.

We also need more younger prospects of quality. Fernandes looks good in his cameo appearances. He may not yet be ready to start every game. How much was his good performance down to a tiring Leicester team (they had a midweek game) and the fact he only had 40 mins was it?

Bilic? How much is down to transfer restrictions of Sullivan? He may just not be a good judge? Tactically and coaching wise, he tries to get us on the front foot and playing pass and move but we aint got the players with pace and/or fitness to play that way. We struggled to find gaps and launched it to big Andy.

But defensively we are a mess. Defensive organisation of BFS days has gone (OK thats all BFS had) but we are kamakazi or on Saturday just basic marking and talking.

Randolph has to be dropped too. Responsible for 2 or 3 goals last few weeks.

The fixtures ahead will likely seal Bilic's fate I suspect.

People need to be more philosophical about this result.
Leicester hadn't won away all season, so defeat for us was a foregone conclusion.

It's the WEST HAM WAY.

Adrian must come back in the team. Randolph isn't good enough.

Agreed, really enjoyed the game and I go to be entertained, just on the end of a bad result yesterday.

Randolph has to be dropped, criminal the way he let the first goal in.

Spoke to a couple of Leicester fans at Stratford station later in the evening. They both thought it was the best stadium they have ever been to. They were sat high up in row 60.

Interesting feedback I thought.

Nothing new there Laindon. Always been the case, how many forwards going through a goal drought would turn up at the Boleyn and gleefully gobble up any opportunities handed on a plate.

Even the not so prolific strikers.

We've made fucking Leicester, Bournemouth, Watford and West Brom seem like world beaters at times over the past few weeks.
If anyone is satisfied with scrambling 2 points from those fixtures then Mark Noble has a point about clueless fans.
After over 50 years I'm tired of sloppy lazy incompetent failure, the one thing that made the presence of Brady and porno scum bearable was the promise of success, Christ I'm jaded waiting

They should all be made to wear black boots - none of them are good enough for these skittle style abominations that they all wear.

All manufacturers produce a black pair, I'd tell the players that's all they can wear and fuck the boot deals.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Leicester - Official Match Thread FT 2-3
Concentration and mental fitness are every bit as important as physical fitness. Our players start games half asleep far too often and likewise at the end of the game. Yesterday being a classic example. Considering Leicester had played the game of their lives on Tuesday it is hardly surprising they faded second half, but they did their hard work from the off and got the goals. We did our hard work when the damage had been done.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Leicester - Official Match Thread FT 2-3
Ho hum - slick pass and move in the lead up combined with defensive lapses and mystifying missed scoring opportunities; this also with players consistently started out of position and questions about form of key personnel (Cresswell, Kouyate and increasingly Antonio).

I must say I my patience is wearing as Bilić's beard grows...
