Jake Rosser seems to really like Moyes. "Tactical nous?"

West Ham news this week: David Moyes plotting more shocks as his grand plan starts to take shape
JACK ROSSER

After weeks of saying that he could see his West Ham players improving on the training ground day after day, David Moyes finally saw his efforts come together on Saturday.

Moyes has laid out his long term plans for a younger, hungrier Hammers side should they stay up this season and the win over Southampton showed the early shoots of his aim for this squad.

Jarrod Bowen, who Moyes was so keen to shelter from the pressures of the Premier League early on, shone in West Ham's four-pronged attack, Michail Antonio and Sebastien Haller causing havoc for Southampton's defenders with Pablo Fornals pulling the strings behind them.

Bowen looked at home in the top flight, Declan Rice - revitalised in recent weeks - again a diamond in midfield on his 100th appearance for the club.

Moyes has the tactical nous and the squad to spare the Hammers from relegation, but the Scot has a grander plan. The signs were there that it could work on Saturday, but it must be followed up. Consistency, as always, is key.

They are back into another daunting run of games with Arsenal, Wolves, Tottenham and Chelsea coming next, but a carefully followed, energetic plan should spring confidence in the West Ham ranks.

Perhaps Wolves aside, each of their next four opponents have shown signs of frailty in recent weeks as they, in turn, refuse to take control of the race for European places.

Take each on with the same devotion, energy and hunger as Saturday, and there could be a few shocks on the way.

Sir Alf, do you think we lack pace and physicality in midfield?

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Southampton - Official Match Thread
What we don't always appreciate is the work that Fornals gets through off the ball. Watching the replay of the full match yesterday his running and closing down was non-stop. Like so many of our midfield though he is not the quickest so will often struggle to get an interception that just closing down the player in possession makes sure they do not have too much time on the ball. If all your team ( including forwards ) start doing that , it will bring about errors and allow the counter. We have seen it against us so many times especially under Pellegrini. We saw that against Southampton with even Haller upping his work rate. Got to keep it going though.

Noble is in the twilight of his career and the increased pace of the Premiership is fast bringing it to a close but he is still one of if not the best passers of the ball in the team and was again involved with some of our best build up or counter attacking play. Just that he fades in games and struggles with the pace, stamina and physicality more and more. He himself said he was not expecting to be starting every game even last year. So the fact that he does and has been critical to our us getting any wins is more an indictment of Sullivan and/or Pellegrini's / Bilic's recruitment over the last 2 seasons ( ultimately I think Sullivan who will not sanction large funds for a player unless they are a forward).

Anyway, Saturday was a pleasing surprise. Arsenal at their place will be a bigger one where defending will again be key. Arsenal are decent going forward but suspect to the physical type of bustling that Antonio provides and the aerial strength of Haller so both have to start. Wish Soucek was available but for now lets hope Noble, Bowen, Rice and Fornals can play at the same intensity and our defence/goalkeeper does not drop any clangers. If so, we have a chance to get something.

Both Anderson and Lanzini
will be off in the window if we have any kind of football-based transfer policy.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Southampton - Official Match Thread
We played well, fully deserved the win. Moyes played the team we all wanted and low and behold we controlled the game created hat full of chances from open play ( even without Anderson shock!!!)

Bowen and Antonio were class bringing out a new Haller, his goal for the 2nd was fantastic finish.

Only player who struggled was Noble at times....replace him with Soucek and we should have enough last 10 games.

Anderson and Lanzini should be nowhere near the starting 11's last 10 games. Players with heart and ability like on sat will get us more points.

Bowen in 1 game carried more goal threat than Anderson has since the 7 game unbeaten run start of season

Peckham 4:45 Sun Mar 1

You know, Peckham, that's a very good point you make. If the players see that the owners don't truly care about the club then why should they give a shit?

The owner of the company I work at is truly passionate about the business and that rubs off on me and the other staff. He also treats us all very well both financially and personally. I feel part of something special. GBS could have made us feel special too, by acting on their promises.

Instead, our players see three unlikeable greedy gits who have sold the fans down the river. Why should they bust a gut to line their pockets further?

Its like someone said yesterday Southampton are one of the best teams in the premiership without the ball ,refering to there exellent pressing game in particular away from home.
,6wins to date.We managed to get the ball forward quickly which stopped them playing on the counter attack which they do so well..
