I thought that about Silva who plays for Chelsea first made a howler and cost them the game I was laughing that they bought a stinker. Really upset how wrong I was .

OK, I'll be more specific...
I think it's disingenuous to highlight his error without acknowledging that he was almost exclusively responsible for Everton's goal and would've scored an equaliser but for a very decent last-ditch tackle

The blunder is a fact. Your opinion is an opinion. I only 'highlighted' it because someone was claiming he had given some sort of world class performance. Also, he was only on for about 10 minutes.

It's true that Onana was dispossessed and it led to the second Villa goal because having been on for a minute or two he tried something he may well have got away with in France. He didn't miscontrol, he tried to beat someone and start a.move and I suspect he's unlikley to do it again. He made amends pretty quickly and I think in the context of what followed it's disingenuous to highlight the error. I think he's going to be a massive player and I think we will regret not making it happen.
I could be wrong, of course, and I really hope I am

Would loved to have seen that Ashby shot gone in,
As for their goal he had already picked up an attacker and had to race out to defend the cross.
Good, overall performance IMO

I don't think Johnson has been too good going forward, not sure about CM, but probably better than Coventry was last night.
I agree he's a good solid player and starting to be more adventurous in his play, which I like to see. RB has been his best position.

Johnson reminds me of George Parris, one of my favourite ever players. George started of LB,then moved to RB and midfield. Then back to Lb. To think Tommy McQueen was preferred for a while. I wouldn't mind seeing Johnson in CM in some ECL games.

We're well off for right backs: Johnson, Coufal (hopefully the version who plays for the Czechs) and Ashby.
We desperately need a left-back to join and put Cresswell under some friendly pressure. Cresswell remains a decent player to have in the squad, but he is slowing (as we all saw in Europe last season) and we need to think about a new face. No way Cresswell can play pretty much every Premier League and European game.

Eerie - agreed, fella. Thought Ashby had a good, solid game. Even got forward well on occasions. I doubt that Moyes and his staff could pick him up on much at all, which for a youngster was promising.

Surface, agree with that but he looks like something special. Reminded me of Foe, time will tell but I fear he will turn out to be one of the best signings in this window.

Yeah- Johnson has suffered because of his versatility somewhat. It's great that it's allowed him a lot of game time, but he's not been able to have a sustained run in his favoured position.
He's a really handy jack of all trade player to have- ready and willing to cover all across the back four if necessary and at least be serviceable but his long term future is obviously at right back. A good solid run there I think will see him turn into a pretty decent player.

Surf, I'm not a fan of Johnson but to be fair to him, he's being asked to play all across the back line, I feel RB is is his best position

Can't disagree with your comment fraser (12.03) but I thought the focus this season was to perform to a level which would keep the likes of Rice and Bowen at our club which is surely championship football next season. We need strength in midfield, sad we missed out on the guy who chose Everton rather than us he looked great (albeit he was only given 10 minutes as a sub) against Villa.

Agree with Jay McPhee .
Re Ashby and Coventry - looks like they were told to play it safe .
I definitely think though Ashby is ready to battle it out with Johnson for RB berth . Coufal third choice for me .
Unfortunately I don’t think Coventry has a future at West Ham - just doesn’t stand out .
