Re: The Detectorists
Liam to Dean happened because James Mcavoy got Holiwood Famous after the 1st series.

Re: The Detectorists
My mate loved it so much he's forked out 4OO notes on buying a
Detector and he's off to some rally up north to do some searching.

Re: The Detectorists
I love the casual dropping in of Simon and Garfunkle song titles into the conversations and the knowing looks between them. Great subtle English humour at its best.

Re: The Detectorists
Early Doors as mentioned is a belter, despite the unexplained switch from Liam to Dean. A 3rd series as they are older would be very welcome.

Re: The Detectorists
Had never heard of this until it was mentioned on the TV thread in January. Its excellent, very funny and beautifully filmed.

Re: The Detectorists
It's brilliant! Gentle understated British humour, great characters and beautiful cinematography, if you've had a bad day sit down and enjoy it with a glass of your favourite tipple, it never fails to cheer me up so I might need to watch a couple of episodes tonight after the barcodes game

Lovely programme. I once went out with a bird that looked like the Garfunkel bloke

Re: The Detectorists
Detectorists is fantastic.
Toby Jones was on TMS a couple of years ago and he told how it came to be.
Mackenzie Crook contacted Toby Jones and said that he had an idea for a programme and he wanted Toby Jones to be in it. Toby Jones said he was interested and could he look at a script. A few days later he received a draft script of the first episode and called Mackenzie Crook to he was a definite yes. Crook then wrote the rest of the first series and it went into production.

Re: The Detectorists
I must have watched it about ten times now.
Never get bored with it as each time there's something that I missed.
Just a great great show.

Re: The Detectorists
Really, laid back, enjoyable comedy.
Not too taxing on the brain and some lovely scenery shots with decent, chilled out music.

Best character is Sheila

Re: The Detectorists
I was a latecomer to this so watched all 3 series and both specials in a week last month.

I really liked it. Written and directed very well by Mackenzie Crook and, as said earlier, Rachel Sterling is a proper sort and Toby Jones was quite brilliant.

Re: The Detectorists
Wonderful.

Just the tonic. Loved the series.

The last episode ( before the Xmas special) was brilliant.

Loved the sparing between there nemisis Terra Firma, or Simon and Garfunkel..

Andy's Mrs is a right sort..

:-)

WHU(EX) As I'm a Gloucestershire bod I'm in full agreement with that opinion. I relate so much with small town rural life.

I've never watched this so will give it a go. I have watched 2 Doors Down though and I'm a big fan. Christine is superb.

Re: The Detectorists
I love it, right down to the music at the end

Also really like This Country, which is vaguely similar in pace and humour.
