Who's your choice? Likely to be Rice again, but no real stand outs.

Yep, it has to be The Stairmen now, doesn’t it?
Fucked if I’m trying to get up some stairs to present them with the trophy, though.

Mubama with his great shot accuracy % - the best we have! 3 shots 1 goal. Get him on the pitch more.
Also, looking at Scamacca's stats and makes you wonder how many League goals we've missed out on. 25 games and most of those were in Europe.
Scorch - Bowen was the surprise for me, but you're right, who would he have available to pass to?! Maybe he also tries riskier passes than most too.

Yeah, this is the reason why I think most stats are fucking bollocks, especially individual stats, which don't take into account team tactics, opposition tactics, etc.
I suspect that the reason de Bruyne mentioned it recently is that his pass completion rate is pretty bad, not even in the top 200 in the Premier League. It's lower than Benrahma's, and as I've mentioned to the statto's on here before, until last month it was even lower than Soucek's!

Just looked it up- interesting actually. Benrahma is so much higher than i thought. Very interesting seen as he's often slaughtered for losing the ball.
Not surprised to see Bowen and Antonio low. Those poor fuckers seldom actually have the chance to make a simple or easy pass. Coufal is surprising. Maybe he's too ambitious.

I suspect Paqueta and Benrahma are likely two of them- but TBH that would be largely because they are willing to play the risky passes that the others won't do.
KDB was saying the other day he doesn't think much of pass accuracy and would rather have a lower percentage but actually try to take risks create things- or words to that effect. I'm inclined to agree with that, provided the players use common sense as to when to put the ball at risk and when to keep it safe.

Re: HOTY

In case you were wondering where the others were (0 goals):
Aaron Cresswell 3 Assists 0 goals 35 played Thilo Kehrer 2 Assists 0 goals 32 played
Maxwel Cornet 1 Assist 0 goals 18 played
Ben Johnson 1 Assist 0 goals 26 played
Vladimír Coufal 1 Assist 0 goals 34 played
There's also data on Chances Created, Chances per 90, Total Passes, Passes Complete, Passes Incomplete and Pass Accuracy. Don't want to do information overload though...
Who wants to guess on Soucek's pass accuracy? Also, which 3 players passing is worse than his?

Re: HOTY

Rice, and it's not even close.
Only other viable candidates are Bowen, Benrahma (yes, Benrahma) Antonio and Paqueta.
Bowen and (Benny- by far) have been less consistent and they just aren't as good but have had matchwinning contributions or performances, Antonio has chipped in and been good in flashes once more the workhorse. Paqueta would be in serious consideration but he's only come alive in the last 6-8 weeks and that's really not enough.
Neither goalie, not a single defender on the books or any other player has made any sort of lasting impact or been anything like even consistent this season. Some because they've barely played, others because they've been bang average, be it skill level or the way they've been asked to play.

Look at you getting all flouncy. By your description HOTY should just be awarded to our best player regardless of how much effort they've show all season. Whereas if you've been watching us for more than three seasons you'd see that it usually the player that has performed to the best of their ability who gets HOTY. And that's how it should be. You can't tell me that Cresswell, Gabbidon and Schemmel were the best players in the squad those years because it would be bollocks. Rice is arguably our best player but in terms of effort he's been nowhere near his top level, especially leading up to the WC.
You might need to look some of those players up son.

Re: HOTY

Rice was clearly our best player this season. If he was as bad as some people make out then obviously there wouldn't be any of this talk of him going to a top 4 club for £100m+. Sure, he wasn't at his best and in a poorly performing team he didn't really stand out the way Scott Parker did in 2010 & 2011, but I guess the rest of our team then were worse than the current lot so it stood out more.
