I rarely post and when I do its normally to shit stir, but not this time. Im not gonna just write I have a souce. Ill tell you the info came from a guy I know who used to play a big role in the Academy expansion into Australia back in the day (the guy who brought us Hayden Foxe :D ). Hes still got a friend or two at the club and he returned from holiday a week or so ago and met these people. They spoke about Jiminez (not Mancini however, that looks a new development) and Shevchenko
Anywho onto Shevchenko. Both Clarke and Zola are keen on getting him in. While Duxbury is very reluctant he has eventually abided by there wishes to pursue the guy. While no fee has been agreed the club has been quoted around 3 mill for him by Chelsea who are desperate to offload his insane wages off the books. They have also given us permission to speak with him
Clarke is good friends with Shev from his Chelsea days. He was one of his major supporters behind the scenes trying to get him more first team action etc. Clarke will be heading off to France where Shev is holidaying to meet with him. Obviously we cant afford to offer huge wages but the wage is expected to be around 50k a week on a 2 year deal.
The new club owners are a big fan of the deal. They see getting a big name like Shevchenko as a great way to increase the profile of the club and potentially put us moreso in the shop window. Zola and Clarke also believe he could be the missing link to push us to Europe next year.
Competition for his signature comes mainly from rich oil clubs in the middle east, in particular Scolaris new club FC Kuruvchi who will be offering double what we are wage wise.
This is all I know or will know. Whether he accepts the paycut and the chance to work with Clarke again is anyones guess. |

the season before he signed for chelsea he scored 19 goals in 28 serie appearances and 9 in 12 champions league games.
if that is a finished player then i will admit that god does actually exsist. |

What ridiculous comments. 50K a week for two years on a player who was finished before he even signed for Chelsea? Is he a 20 goal a season striker? Nope.
