Team News
West Ham United
• The Hammers picked up no new injury concerns following their game on Good Friday with Barnsley. Guy Demel was brougt off early after his return from injury and with several key players on the bench, Big Sam could look to rotate his side. • Papa Bouba Diop could be in line to start his first game in three months after coming off the bench against Barnsley. • Right back Joey O'Brien remains a doubt with a thigh problem so Guy Demel could keep his place in the starting eleven. Julien Faubert could also be out after he missed the Barnsley win.
Birmingham
• Birmingham midfielder Keith Fahey returned on Saturday against Palace after a spell out with a groin injury and will be keen to keep his place. • Former Hammer Jonathan Spector and Pablo Ibanez are still unfit after time out with thigh and hamstring injuries. • Stephen Carr is still out of action with a knee problem.

Reading will beat Brighton I think. Its playoffs now unless something out of the ordinary falls for us.
7 games at home and 6 points ended our chances. And would you back us in 2 leg play offs with one game at UP? Only if the first leg is at home and we get the customary draw.
One paced midfield was the key weakness from day 1 and was never addressed.
Anyway, I have accepted Championship football again next season. Anything else is a bonus.

Collins had a decent second half at left back. If Reading lose to Brighton,it's not over for automatic promotion. Keep the faith. COYI.

Jargon...
By putting Tomkins at RB... BFTDSC weakened our best CB combination of Faye...RCB and Tomkins LCB...
Reid plays better at RCB...and has played there for NZ...
The best combination should have been...
Reid RB...Faye RCB...Tomkins...LCB...
much better defensively...

No. Cole did what he is best at which is scoring from loose ball or taking an opportunity. The problem is that Allardyce almost plays him as a holding midfielder for his flawed long ball game. It works as in the second half when the ball is hurled to a number if targets. It fails when Cole is used as a line target and only Allardyce is left if those who haven't spotted it

Cole was central to everything good in the second half, scored an excellent goal, another just over. Maynard was pretty anonymous bar one shot and deserved being pulled. Lansbury injected energy and urgency to our midfield and all of a sudden we were competing and putting Birmingham under pressure.
The players made the basic mistakes today which led to 3 goals not the manager. For most of the match Birmingham offered nothing

Strange line up. Can only assume Demel is not fully fit. Tomkins at RB was a disaster. Allardyce might ruin that kid if he aint careful.

Ant: "with hindsight Allardyce should have started a front 3 of Maynard--Vaz Te--Baldock"?. I thought it has been obvious for months that Cole on his own up front doesn't work! they all played better 2nd half but I've lost count of how many times he passes or flicks it on to a non existent partner! I like the bloke for his commitment but without a partner up front it's pitiful

Spot on.
I cringe when the useless lazy fucker is named in the starting Eleven.
I just want to see Maynard get a run of games,it's no good stop starting him he needs as much game time as possible and he will get goals.

FCJ - you'r eright. The team BFCSA picked today couldn't play passing football - but the team at Barnsley could though. so why fucking change it to accomodate fucking Cole up front?

For me it was simple - trying to play passing football from the start we were sloppy and gave away 2 goals without Birmingham looking a threat. The change to quick long ball forward in the second half saw chance after chance come and Birmingham crumble. Right subs today, right tactics in the second half. Fact is our team don't have the quality or movement to play passing football that some of you keep bleating for.
Well done to the manager for turning round a horror show in the first half.

Before anyone thinks of crediting Allardyce with the second half recovery, Birmingham played the same tactics at Palace at the weekend to win 1-3, so only an arrogant, self deluded fool would not consider this the likely tactic for us given his repeated failure to defeat the meagrest of opponents in recent weeks in E13
I think Allardyce's time is up. Sadly, we're shackled to his lack if imagination for a while longer

We've lost 2 games now, playing from the back (the West Ham way) however we brought the game back by playing percentage football today. That's 4 goals now where i'd rather we used an outlet ball than try suicidal passes under pressure (because after all, that's how we played in the 60's, when players were slower and less agile) then perhaps we wouldn't have conceded 7 at home and put ourselves in unattainable positions.
What I did notice is that, the diagonal outlet ball actually worked today, which I think is due to the fact Cole had one of his best games playing the target man.

At least we fought back with some passion as opposed to simply rolling over. Should never have been in that position though. Whilst we had three good shouts for penalties fact is we can't rely on officials. They are crap in this league and biased in the prem.

I think its pretty obvious why we were shit in the first half. BFS and his formation. Cole has to have some one up along side him, otherwise he has no one to play it off to or head it on to. He constantly had to come towards the midfield to find someone because there was no one playing off him and he looked shit, NOT HIS FAULT. That slowed the attack down and the ball went across the back four or the midfield. BFS use of Maynard today was a joke, the guy scored a great goal vs Barnsley and hit the bar and probably got some confidence back, so what does BFS do play him on the left wing, fucking laughable. Tomkins at right back was a joke, again, just play Potts for god sake. Square pegs in round holes does not work and time and time again BFS does it and we play shit.

Cole was awful 1st half. But outstanding 2nd half credit where it's due. Shame the fat cunt waited until we were 3-1 down to change the shape of the team.
Tomkins at RB... Maynard out of position again. Clueless
