The wife and I had our 10th wedding anniversary last night. Went to The Savoy, we each had a steak that cost us 140 quid. And yes, it was ficking good!

Probably about 25 quid in a restaurant in France. Not all that expensive in the grand scheme, but still one of the best things I've ever eaten. How much do you NEED to spend on a piece of meat?
It all comes from the humble cow, in the end.

I've just taken a rib eye out of the fridge to get to room temp, ready for my supper tonight. Reduced to £2.39 from Morrison's.

, Good detective work. Looks like we have a billy big bollocks who has tried to make himself look big but ended up looking like a complete weapon.

A Colorado Rib Steak from Smith and Wollensky, New York around 6 years ago. About 50 odd dollars. It was a good inch thick and served on the bone. It still is the best steak I have ever eaten.

From the Savoy grill menu
Grills All our beef comes from British herds; it is at least 24 months old and is dry-aged for a minimum of 35 days
Sirloin steak 10oz £26.00 Porterhouse 16oz £30.00 T-bone steak 22oz £38.00 Chateaubriand (for two) 20oz £60.00 Rib-eye steak 14oz £32.00 Fillet steak on the bone 14oz £36.00 Herdwick lamb cutlets £24.00 Veal sausages £12.00 Rare breed pork chop 14oz £20.00 Gammon steak 10oz £12.00 Côte de boeuf (for two) 28oz £58.00 Calf’s liver £18.00
Add to cuts: sautéed onions, fried organic egg or smoked bacon - £2.00 each Accompanied by a choice of béarnaise, pepper or marrowbone and shallot sauce
Clearly there is no "steak" for £140 or even £70 per person.
So I am guessing that £140 was the cost of the whole meal experience. Oh....and they both had steak.

Is it just me or am I missing the fact as to why anyone would spend that amount of money on a steak?

Hawksmoor in London. Ben & Jacks in New York both excellent. Best steak I ever had was in Rio De Janeiro in a cafe for equivalent of about £1.50.
