Where were Russia on that list? I know they started doing beer commercials that resembled our coca-cola adverts, you know, fitness and activity, smiling tanned on the beach type thing. This was to try to get them off the vodka onto somethng more healthy (less damaging).

We are not you know. We are the Sunderland of heavy and reckless drinking. I googled it because I was curious. Forbes did a study on European drinking and we came 15th (Denmark 14th). There was a study done on world drinking and we came 15th as well (different methodology). If you look at the bald facts we are very average for volume and low for rates for alcohol related crime, deaths and disease.
It's almost as if the media are trying to make us feel shit about something we enjoy and do the country down. There's a surprise.

Loved watching this, no idea what they were on about but one thing is clear:
The Boleyn is a fucking shit pub on a matchday, full of our mongiest, shitcuntiest fans and no mistake.
The bit in there was embarrassing.

Many drink at private parties. And yes if you go to fancy bars etc. it's 6-8 quid, but there are lots of place where you pay from 2,5.
The pub where I watch The Hammers: 2,20 quid for a pint of lager.

mashed. Danish teenagers hold the European record for drinking most alcohol within the EU (*proud in Denmark*).
If you look at the whole population Danes are Top 3, and we were no 1 in EU 3-4 years ago (*proud again*).

Mashed, spent some time in Sweden before, (not any great length admittedly), and the snapshot I did get might be wholly the wrong impression, but the ones I stayed with/met, were pretty heavy drinkers all by our standards.
Wasn't a pub/bar culture, but they seemed to do an awful lot of 'on the quiet', almost secret drinking.

Yeah the amount of time/money most of us spend down the pub, in most foreign countries if you spent that amount of time/money in a bar on drink you'd pribably be considered as having a bit of a problem. Belgium is one of the only exceptions.
Yanks and Aussies THINK they are big drinkers, but they're not.

I drink my German friends under the table and I ain't exactly a big drinker. They tend to drink to enjoy themselves whereas we drink to get f@cked!
