"Rio has only played 1 game for England in the last 14 months and apparantly can't play more than 1 game a week." - He played 3 games in 8 days earlier this season and had no problems.
"No way is Carrick the best player in his position in the country, although I would of put him in instead of Barry." - Carrick has retired from International football.

I think Gerrard and Lampard could work in a midfield three alongside Parker/Barry, with Gerrard sitting and Lampard in a more advanced role

The squad is disappointing to me. It is probably much as Redknapp would have picked except I think that he would have found a place for Rio [ possibly at the expense of JT ] and also Crouch who has a good international strike rate.
I hope that Gerrard and Lampard being in the squad does not mean that Hodgson tries to play them in the same eleven because it has never worked.
I might be wrong but I think that Gerrard is a busted flush. I cannot see the likes of him Lampard, Terry, Barry, Parker being around for WC 2014 so whatever happens this summer i hope that Hodgson builds a new squad to qualify and take us to Brasil.

Rio has only played 1 game for England in the last 14 months and apparantly can't play more than 1 game a week.
No way is Carrick the best player in his position in the country, although I would of put him in instead of Barry.

Can't really question much of that squad.
Obviously he has picked a lot of the old guard like Terry, Barry, Cole, Gerrard and Lampard but in respect to Terry, Gerrard and Cole in particular there is not many that are better than them in those positions.
Despite being a twat, picking defoe was the correct choice ahead of Bent, as was Carroll ahead of Crouch. I think that substitute performance in the FA cup final against Chelsea won Carroll the call up.
Who's to say that the likes of Phil Jones, Welbeck and Chamberlain won't surprise a few people?
Roy Hodgson has my respect anyway.

name a better goalscoring midfielder than Lampard...that can play in the middle...defensively if needed...and cam also burst through & score regularly...as he still does...

Terry is an OK choice...for his last Tournament...
Cunt he is...but capable...if losing speed...still very good in the air & a threat on set pieces...good linkup with Cahill...

I'd have picked Micah Richards or Jagielka instead of Terry but apart from that there are no obvious exclusions.
That's shown by the fact that a park player like Jordan Henderson is on the standby list. I'm not going to even ask who Butland is.
No Wilshere, limited Rooney & the fact that Parker is falling to pieces at the end of the season doesn't fill me full of massive expectation.
Looking forward to the tournament though.
