Re: The official WHO Transfer window thread
I think that OBrien did well. He won't have many better wingers, that what he faced yesterday. We know that he is decent cover for both full back positions and young Potts can be a decent cover too. We'll be ok, I reckon, though it will be nice to have a few points in the bag, before we face the big guns.

Re: The official WHO Transfer window thread
Obrien done well yesterday but it makes me very nervious playing him there...always played the ball with his right foot which is understandable but I'd rather he is back up to Demel on the right personally

I guess BS had no choice as without Jarvis he needed that supply to Carroll which prevented him plaing Taylor at left back possibly?

Re: The official WHO Transfer window thread
O brien did pretty well and even got fwd at one point to set up VAZ TE!

However we do lack cover for right back and left back and as I said John Mensah can play across the back.

O Brien is more of a right back than left back and potts is only a kid.

Mensah has prem experience and played very well

Re: The official WHO Transfer window thread
If O'Brien can do well against Fulham and the like then we will be ok as most of our team are mean't to struggle against the top teams that is why it is a shock if the likes of West Ham get any result against them.

Re: The official WHO Transfer window thread
against better opposition Obrien will not be good enough for left back........I thought we'd learned by our previous mistake playing jonny spector in that position

any out of contract left backs out there please?

Re: The official WHO Transfer window thread
John Mensah would fit the bill, however hes injury prone.

but still a very good defender when fit, prob be our best defender if we signed

Same happened with Arshavin going to Arsenal a few years ago didn't it?

Re: The official WHO Transfer window thread
Slightly off topic, but I read yesterday that Tottenham were given an hours extension to sort out the paperwork on a possible Moutinho transfer.

Isn't that the whole point about having a deadline that the paperwork for transfers needs to be sorted out before that deadline ?
How come that Spurs get special treatment ?
(Don't know if the transfer has finally happened or not)

Why haven't the club officially announced it yet?

Anyone else worried?

Re: The official WHO Transfer window thread
I think a lot of fans are twitchy about the defense but are probably damaged goods when reflecting on the coacj=hing buffonery of Avaram Grant.

Our defence is basically R/B- Demel/Obrien

C/B- Tomkins/Collins/Reid/Diarra

L/B- Linda/Potts/ (Tayler for some home games)

All of the above will be organised and work hard for each other.

We will stay up with that defence IMO
