Just to join in with the inevitable discussions about who we should be looking to sign....
What do people think about Lansbury?
From what I gather, Arsenal want him to sign a new deal but will probably look to loan him out again, which Lansbury may not be too keen on.
Personally, I haven't been bowled over by him at all, but can definitely see that he has something about him. He definitely has talent.
Is he worth a punt? Do we actually need him? Could we do better?

As I said on the transfer thread, our number 1 target is a defensive midfielder, that's key to the BFS way.
Every player we sign needs to be able to mix it with our first 11, not money or room for a player that's been 5th or 6th choice in the Championship.

Also if we were to buy a centre midfielder, it'll most probably someone who can play Diop's role!
That'll be BFS' first target I reckon.
I have no interest in signing Lansbury.

Judging from reports of his international appearances, he's done well against his own age group, which is why I suppose Wenger is persisting with him.
But he's 22 now, so he should be doing better against grown-ups. Probably won't get another Arsenal contract unless he does.

There's generally a reason why players don't get a run in the team and in Lansburys case it was because he wasn't good enough.

Didnt get a run in the team ,he has potential to be a very good player...I would like to see him back at West Ham next season.

I would rather see us strengthen in the wide areas before we buy a centre midfielder!
And for what i've seen over the course of the season, Lansbury has been no better than Noble, Collison, O'Neil and Nolan

Personal opinion is he didn't do a lot for us but if Wenger thinks he deserved a new contract I bow to his superior knowledge as he thinks he must have something to succeed

We need to do something about our midfield but not sure Lansbury is it. Over the whole season slightly better than Collison but not enough to spend money on

Lansbury's a good player , confident on the ball , should have had more of a run in team this year , when he did play he gave us something different.

He offers us something different from that which our other midfielders do.
Sam only used him when he thought his particular flare, was useful in the game plan at the level we play at in the Championship.

Arsenal keeping first option on him by renewing his contract at the beginning of the season, so no point wasting our time. He has the makings of a great player but needs to find a team that will make him part of their first team soon rather than promises of cameo appearances at L'Arse. West Ham would be a great team for him to do that but I suspect he thinks he can still make it at Arsenal. Risky, as I dont think he is that good for a while to displace existing members of L'Arse midfield but its his choice. Problem is that sitting on teh bench or in the Ressies or on one loan after another can sometimes inhibit a player's development. Ask Carlton and he will confirm that I reckon?
In summary, would like to get him because there is a good player waiting to develop but no way it will happen.

Send him back, didn't stand out in Championship, can't see him being outstanding in the PL.
