For those interested, early relegation odds here:-

Encouragingly, there are 5 teams shorter priced than us for relegation.

Sam's a good relegation struggle manager and with enough funds and the chance to bring in the kind of player he likes without Sulli deciding he wants to interferea dn I think we will have a good shot at staying up although I think our squad is weak right now.

Norwich and Swansea both befefitted from first season shock, and I think they will bith struggle next season. Southampton and Reading may both benefit from it more than us next though. That leaves Wigan, WBA or a surprise package.
QPR have money and must improve surely.

my aspirations are very simple next season :-

I) No more capitulations at man u/liverpool etc i.e, 3nil after 20 mins

II) win/dont lose against the teams around us.

III) 40 points by the end of march

happy days

I think if Moyles leaves Everton, they will be relegated in a seaon or two.

At least one of the promoted sides will go (this season is only the second I can remember, where all 3 promoted sides stayed up).

Norwich and Swansea for all their plaudits, may well struggle second season. Wigan's time is surely up, especially if they lose Martinez.

38 points + a decent goal difference to stay up.

I'd fucking love it if the Mickey Mousers took a dive (imagine all their fans looking around for somewhere outside the club and themselves to pin the blame for THAT one) but can't see it; they'll buy themselves safety, if not another trophy.

Plus, if they get a favourable first month momentum will kick in. That favourability will be enhanced if we play them away as one of out first 4 games- in fact I wouldn't put it against the PL computer to pick out Liverpool v West Ham as the first game of the season; ideal start for Sky, that.

I didn't mention Swansea or Norwich, but goth could well find the second season in the Prem far more challenging as is sometimes the case.

If Lambert and Holt leave, Norwich will be right in the shit.

Wigan will be in trouble if they lost Martinez and a couple of their better players- I seem to recall Whelan saying he's had enough of putting his hand in his pocket now.

Other than that, it's probably a little too early to speculate

Two successive promotions from Southampton I think will be their downfall. It's one thing to get their with the momentum but completely different to stay their. Saints need some major squad investment this summer.

Re: Candidates for the Avram Grant Relegation Shuffle 2012-2013
I cant see an Allardyce team getting relegated, think we'll be ok.

I think Southampton will stay up comfortably, the equivalent of this seasons Norwich I reckon. Reading on the other hand I think will struggle.

Wigan if they lose Martinez will drop, he's worked miracles to keep them up the past couple of seasons when they have looked dead and buried going into the run-in.

Stoke I think may well be in the mix. Read somewhere the other day that had the season started in January they would have been relegated. Also they rely too heavily on set pieces, rarely score from open play.

As for WBA I think they will most likely appoint someone like Curbishley, who would probably secure them a lower mid table finish quite comfortably.

So for me as it stands I'd go:

Wigan
Reading
Stoke

Can't stand Hughes. Nearly as much as I dislike Redknapp and Joe Jordan.

Re: Candidates for the Avram Grant Relegation Shuffle 2012-2013
I don't think QPR will be involved. Given a pre season and some investment, I'm sure Hughes will make them a strong outfit.

WBA could well struggle post Hodgson, and Wigan will no doubt be thereabouts. The newly promoted teams will also probably find it hard work, but I genuinely think we will be fine provided we invest a little.

Does seem more speculation than ever this coming season on manager movements which are key, and until we know them.
Imagine ‘Arry on his way now that Spurs are out the CL. Remember what bad shape they were in when he took over, so with the wrong appt, but lets concentrate on ourselves first.

Re: Candidates for the Avram Grant Relegation Shuffle 2012-2013
To go down with 42 pts is rare, because it needs two weak clubs (who surrender points to be shared around the rest) and lots of fairly evenly matched ones.

Sunderland got a pathetic 19pts, and WBA were 16pts behind us when we did it. We were closer to 8th position than 19th in terms of points.
