Apparently sustained a thigh injury....
likely to be replaced by Henderson. I'd have said it's probably more a blessing than a curse but would have liked to see a better replacement.

For the record, Gerrard is just as fucking useless as Lampard supposedly is in an England shirt. A truly great international player will perform anywhere on the pitch.
In no way am I saying that Lampard is great either. If I had my way, the vast majority of our Euro 2012 squad would be made up of players of the future. Henderson hasn't earned that tag yet.

For some time though Pash he was the penalty taker so it skews the numbers a bit when you go comparing him with Gerrard for example.

Lampard has 23 goals in 90 appearances for England. That's better than a goal every four games. That's a solid record for a midfielder at international level.
Gerrard has 19 in 91 appearances.

I think that's been the problem with Lampard. No manager can seem to stay away from him when faced with other options which is why I'm glad he's out. I don't rate henderson, but Lamps position in the starting XI won't be replaced by him.

Believe me, I do understand where people are coming from.
But, if I had the choice of Lampard or Henderson in my team/squad, I would choose Lampard. Therefore, for me, it's not good news.

Lampard lacks the versatility to contribute in the international game. He's great when you can bring in class players at just about every position around him, but the national side don't have that luxury or time to accommodate such an opportunist
