Smashing Pumpkins - Oceania
Probably the best thing Corgan's put out since Adore. Pale Horse & My Love is Winter are particular highlights.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins - Oceania
I was a big fan of the Smashing Pumpkins through the 90's, partly due to the music, the other due to D'Arcy. In my opinion Soma from Siamese Dream is one of the best songs of that decade. Not sure about the new album though.

Couldn't believe the mugshot photo of D'Arcy after she was arrested at the start of last year, a good example to never do drugs.

Thanks for update. I dropped SP after the disappointment with Mellon....... ...sure even Mellon had 2 good tracks (out of 28), but SIAMESE DREAM had 12 (out of 13).

Yeah, Jimmy is the only one I'd imagine would be an actual loss. Good drummer, that.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins - Oceania
No Billy is the only original member left.

James Iha left years and years ago. D'Arcy years ago too, and was replaced by Melissa auf der Meur from Hole.

On another female bassist now, who's pretty foxy.

The last other original member in the band was Jimmy Chamberlain and he left about 2 years ago.

He was AMAZING when I saw them at the O2.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins - Oceania

So who *are* they now? Are D'arcy, Jimmy and that Asian Fella in "the band" or what?

Would be nice with a SECOND PEAK. The first was obviously SIAMESE DREAM. Gish was so-so. Thanx for reading.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins - Oceania
Corgan used to go back into the studio and rerecord himself playing the other parts anyway.

Bloke's a massive ego, but I love em. Especially the Pumpkins of old.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins - Oceania
Yeah.

Half of them wanded to smoke crack and the guitarist got the hump about his lack of song writing credits.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins - Oceania
He was on Howard Stern this morning saying that although the old band members added bits and pieces to the songs it was he that contributed the bulk of the material.
He said Oceania proves this as it sounds so much like SP of old.
He said he had problem towards the end with the original band as they all started pulling in different directions.

I wouldn't know as I am not a fan but thought I would pass the info along.

Re: Smashing Pumpkins - Oceania
have it on pre-order.

saw 'them' (lets be honest it's not really SP anymore) in November at Brixton academy.

Liked some of the tracks, seemed like a lot of filler though. Will see when the album comes through.
