john terry has no pace ... which is one of the reasons we have to play so deep and most of his saving tackles are ones that hes bought on himself by stepping up when he shouldnt or dropping off when everyone else is stepping up we have to bring some pace into the middle so we can push up and the midfield then dont have to run 70 yds to get in touch with the forward line

John Terry didn't seem that comfortable playing on the right side of defence and was guilty a couple of times of stepping up for offside on his own and leaving Balotelli free. That said, he is an organiser and will give everything and I can see why he was picked.

I don't agree. Whilst the football may have been more 'gung ho' under twitchy, I don't think we would have even made it this far. Teams would just pick us off.
What we lack is creativity, goal scorers and depth. It was too many games in a row for the old boys in the middle of the park and we had nobody competent to come in and rest them in other games.
Hopefully Roy can build on this and with a bit of time can mould a team with a bit more bite and energy.

I meant Terry is one of those defenders who gets out of position and then gets noticed by making dramatic gestures sometimes successful.
He did his best last night and was one of England's better players but still lost Balotelli several times (the Italians were targeting him with balls over and past him) and on another night would have been punished severely.
Someone mentioned Euro88 last night and of course it wasnt Adams v Van Basten but Balotelli SHOULD have had 2 goals AT LEAST.

I've spoken to Jonty Rhodes, he's willing to come out of retirement and between the sticks but only if Mandela comes in as coach.

Most people's problem with Terry is that they don't like him as a person rather than as a footballer isn't it?
As the Terry Butcher style blood and guts warrior school of defending with last ditch tackles and throwing ones body into the line he does a job.
Still part of the same problem though in that he doesn't have a clue what to do with the ball once he's got it. Dispatched in the general direction of an England player rather than passed.

If Balotelli could finish he would have had a hat-trick last night against him. Don't be fooled by a few desperate late lunges.

Worth saying that being somewhere around 5-6th in Europe (I think we're better than Greece or the Czechs) is actually not that bad an achievement. Especially considering the general dominance of Europe in International football in recent years.
