Like many other acts I can totally see the appeal.
Does absolutely fuck all for me.
But then I can see why people think that about Noel Gallagher.

I particularly like his 'storytelling' songs like
Hurricane and Stuck inside of Mobile...
Agree his live performances have alot to be desired though

I fully agree, mate. He is my favourite, and I think his voiceS (plural) are amazing. But as I said, I understand when people don't get it.

Steady Kenneth son, your post is in the category of the ignorant twat. Dylan's albums Highway 61 Revisited and Blood on the Tracks, not to mention Blonde on Blonde are towering achievements, whther it's to your taste or not. Some songs like Blowin' in the Wind and Just Like a Woman will be around forever. So, what's the frequency Kenneth?

No. He is a genius.
I don't like him very much because of his voice & when I saw him about 10 years ago he sang like Vic Reeves doing club singer on Shooting Stars which, imho, is very poor.
But whatever I think of him he will always remain a genius & probably the best songwriter of the last 50 years.

It's such a cliche that he is a bad singer - like to anything off 'Desire' and tell me that's terrible singing.
(Of course he might have the odd bad day but I'd rather have his distinct voice than the supposed good voices like Sir Cliff.)

Im going to the Hop Farm Festival so I'll let you know my opinion Saturday. Twenty years ago now, him and Bob were the choice tapes we played on the beach at Camber after some rave somewhere or in our cars driving to Leysdown for a camping weekend. Happy days

The fact he doesn't sing like an angel is irrelevant.
Mozart might have sounded like a tortured cat when he sang, still wouldn't make him shit.
Bob Dylan is above all else a songwriter, not a player, and I'm sure he would agree.
I happen to like his voice, but fully understand why some people would not. Same goes for Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen and Lou Reed.
Jeff Buckley sang a few Dylan tracks and clearly revealed them for what they are: true gems. "Mamma, You've Been On My Mind" comes to mind. Check it....

He might not be to everyone's taste and some of his stuff is pretty poor but his back catalogue is outstanding. Fanstastic song writer and whilst not the most pleasing voice, there is a certain charm to it. Some of the covers done of his songs are immense.

i would suggest you just havent listened enough. the thing about bob dylan is that while perhaps not the musician in the world, his songs are laced with wonderful imagery. it might help if you read some of the lyrics while listening to him. i would suggest starting with Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts

Leaving aside the rigorous examination of his canon that 'shit' implies, the answer has to be 'probably not' merely on the basis that he has continued to produce original music which has plainly had popular appeal for around 50 years.
Certainly, as a live performer, you take a risk every time you buy a ticket for a Bob concert as he veers from the sublime to the cor blimey.
The songs that he wrote in those purple days of the 60s will still be sung in 200 or 300 years and beyond such is their quality. Whether you prefer to hear Bob or your mum sing them is of little import. A great is a great song.
There is the (remote?) possibility that his songs are just a tad complex and poetical for your brain Kenneth. It happens. Ergo you don't get it. Such is Life
