Higgs Boson discovery to be announced on Weds!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2167188/God-particle-Scientists-Cern-expected-announce-Higgs-boson-particle-discovered-Wednesday.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

So what does this now mean?
Are we closer to warp technology?
Can we harness anti matter?
Have we proved God doesn't exist or found that he is a small particle?
The answer to life, the universe and everything is no longer 42!
We will finally know how to time travel?
That Hitler is still alive and meets Lord Lucan for Tea and scones on Thursdays?
That all these worlds are yours except Europa, attempt no landings there?
That the discovery of the Higgs will bring about the end of the world in 2012 as predicted by the Mayans?
That we can predict Weds lottery numbers?

So I've only got just over a day to find one down the back of my sofa?

Bugger!

It gives particles mass, which explains why Adelie and most of the women in this country are too fucking fat!

Having just read back I was just about to post something about noticing there's a bit of string attached to the bit of food on a hook currently nesting in the roof of my gob.

1-nil to you, you bastard.

I also find it interesting that someone here has tried to suggest that the existance of this particle will spell the end of paedophiles in positions of trust.

Things you learn on here.

Re: Higgs Boson discovery to be announced on Weds!
I really do get the idea that some people off here would jump at the chance to go into some little old lady's house in a favela or something, see there's a cross on the wall, and engage them in a brutal "IM RIGHT YOU'RE WRONG" debate with them where they shoot them down in flames and read out lists of evidence about why there's no god and why the old lady is stupid.

I,Sir, shall look down my nose at who ever I wish, for what ever reason I wish.

Believing in a God is just one of the many things I choose to disparage, others include but not limited to Lefties, Scottish people(The Scotch) and Dwarfs.

However, God-botherers do top the list.

'Some people choose to believe in God and will do so no matter what, just get over it and get on with your lives instead of looking down your nose at people who think differently eh?'

Thats called the real world surely?

This is WHO. Point scoring is the religion here.

Re: Higgs Boson discovery to be announced on Weds!
Even as a quite staunch athiest I do find it embarassing how quickly some people on here leapfrog over eachother to make a point that they think religion is silly.

Some people choose to believe in God and will do so no matter what, just get over it and get on with your lives instead of looking down your nose at people who think differently eh?

I'd very much like a man with a beard to stroll onto the stage and state that Higgs-Boson equals 42.

Re: Higgs Boson discovery to be announced on Weds!
It will be interesting to see what is said but more interesting to see what new questions are thrown up.

Just for the record, it will neither prove nor disprove any particular god that any particular group of human has believed in at any particular time.

It will just be about the physics of how the particles in the universe got their mass.

If they have found this particle, then God must've mad it, no?
