will Euro 2012 have any effect on WHUFC ?
|
|
or is a rigid 451 going to continue ? will linda ever attempt copying the spanish 2nd goal & noble fancy doing a pirlo ?
would be great to see at least some attempt to incorporate some of the tactics and induvidual flair from the best of Euro 2012.
LIKE FCK,,,HOOF !!!!!!!!!!!

Well if this was OLD West Ham we'd have bought a player from a Country on the Periphery of the Tournament for a vastly overinflated price on the strength of two or three adequate shows of Adequacy.
But that isn't what you meant is it.

Was Collison considered for team GB?

as per last 2 posts, we currently have vaz te on one wing. ideally one more winger will certainly make our 433/451 more balanced and increase our attacking options. this could well mean collison being on the bench, assuming noble & nolan to start

I shoudl imagine that we will line up 4-2-3-1, as seems to be the fashion these days. Diame as the holding player, Noble as the link man, Nolan just behind the front man and Vaz Te and someone else either side. If Diame pushes on, Noble will sit, the wingers will swap wings etc....the important thing these days is to have flexibility and fluidity to the way you play, and players who are capable of interchanging positions in the front 4.

The 4-3-3 worked best with Vaz Te linking midfield to attack and O'Neil doing the running in midfield.
If we can get someone else who can do Vaz Te's job on the other side, with Diame seemingly an improvement in midfield, we could be very effective playing this system.
That seems to be Sam's plan, with another big striker to compete with Cole.

I take your point, but there were a number of times when we played 4-5-1 last season and it didn't change to a 4-3-3 in attack as cole was so isolated.
That said i also think we played the 4-3-3 very well on a couple of occassions and at times looked very fluid.

don't dream as some inbreds on here think we have nothing to learn from or strive to improve.
we need to improve upon the foundation laid last year.

Stirling. Why do you say that we play 4-5-1, when you know that we play 4-3-3 and that both are the same system. One for defence and one for attacking play. Is it because 4-5-1 looks more negative? Ireland play 4-4-2 and were destroyed. The Spanish coach has said that they play a 4-3-3 system and pundits should look at the formation, instead of the team sheet. The vast majority of top clubs, play the same system as us.

As much as I hate the way Sam has had us play most of the time i would never have described his 4-5-1 as rigid.

Yep it's such a shame we are blinded from the fact we have no skill, ride our luck and believe in the media hype. I am in fact looking forward to Team GB in the Olympics as some players will get the chance to prove themselves and open up options for England. My view still remains that we should choose from both the Prem and the Championship as 2 different styles of play are evident between the leagues.

No. We will say "well we only lost to Italy on pens. We are competing at this level. WIth a little tinkering and a little more luck we could be champions. We have the nucleus of a great side. Nothing fundamentaly wrong."

oh i dont know-- i can dare to dream and think of us unveiling and taming our new starlet- Ravel-- full of energy and with a point to prove - think a mata/kabaye style player...just behind the front one.two/three dropping the shoulder and pinging 10 yarders into space for maynard to exploit..perfect!
Add that, a rejuvinated George at left back - think Coentrão - bombing up the left wing with fire in his boots.
Tomka learns from his team GB experience and become our Ramos-- grabbing the ball at free kicks and pinging in looping strikes on goal
And then i woke-up..
One thing I do wish would change is the same hackneyed commentary--- they say " oh they've worn themselves out trying to get hold of the ball..." err..have you seen how hard the "better" sides work with the ball? Easily as hard...when in possession spain etc always have at least two options within 5 yards maximum...if we learn anything, i just we'd learn to play a bit closer to each other and start to move the ball through teams as opposed to over..

What do you mean by rigid 451?
The whole point about 451 is that it is not rigid. It's 451 defending and more like 433 or 4221 when attacking.
What is for certain is that 442 is dead and buried and no team of note plays it.
