He helps run football apprenticeships through the college. I work at the college too, been on courses with the football lot all week for staff development training. In other news, I really like the cave.

Ronnie visiting the Cave this week then.
Don't worry about touching any of the WHOers other halves as none of them are good enough for the posters on here. Fact. (FACT).
*where's my fucking invite?

He played in out 7 aside team over Upton Park one of those sponsored day things, was pretty toilet.
Top bloke though, obviously loved the club, wanted Hughton in charge though before we got Sam in.

To be fair it wasn't just going to Celtic that did for him, he went to pieces it that last season with us and was never the same player. Shame as he was a very good player in his time and clearly loved the club.
Didn't he get the winner away at Charlton (Selhurst Park) in the cup when he was a kid, one year?

That Everton game lives long in the memory, I must have watched the sports night highlights hundreds of times.
I remember him coming off the bench earlier that season Vs Brighton and smashing one into the top corner after a mazy run. Interestingly, Foster also scored in that game (as did Mike Small for them).
Didn't he have dodgy plates a la Andy Impey which curtailed his promising career?

I'd bought me and my brother a season ticket back then and we was in the family bit in the old West Stand Lower, my brother (now 34) was a short 12 at the time and moaning he couldn't see as everybody was bouncing around/standing even in there. So i picked him up a few seconds before Slater scored and he just went mental in my arms, a great moment as i'd truly passed on the West Ham bug and it was confirmed by the ferocity of a 12 year old going bonkers and swearing his little gob off. :-)

Nearly all my favourite moments from that era include Slater. Strange he never fulfilled his potential, wrong move at the wrong moment going to Celtic.

One of my favourite nights at UP. That volley from Foster, Slater tearing them to pieces. Stunning save from ludo from a glancing Pat Nevin header (I think). I had Jonathan Pearce's commentry from Capital Gold recorded and he just goes mental.
I also remember queuing up for hours for the semi final tickets.

Me and the missus had something to eat and a few beers in a pub oppo' the church in Chelmsford Town Centre (was killing time whilst our duaghter was rehearsing for a show she is doing at the theatre there)... wasn't bad... groom turned up in a Aston Martin DB7 with `JB 007' number plates... class
Anyway I forgot how many decent pubs are in the town centre

Re: Stuart Slater

at the everton game i bought a ticket off of a tout and he said dont look at it as there are police about so i bought a ticket got to the pub and showed my mates.
Everton end...
went back out and sold it for 20 more than i paid for it, sorry whoever bought it, and bought another ticket off a different tout for 20 quid... so got in for free to the south bank that night.
put it in for my semi ticket to get a lovely letter from the police informing me that it was indeed a fake ticket and that i would be investigated. i had it on my wall as a trophy and my old girl went mad.
what a night that was...

Danny, i don't know Chelmsford well anymore. I'm there friday week and have to wait for someone to get back quite late so i might text you if you're about for a beer. Saves me sitting in the house waiting for them to come back! I'm terrible with pub names though. It's near Baddow road that's all i know!

I was at that Everton match.
Who would have guessed that after that he only scored one more goal for West Ham in about 70 games?
