At the minute - Down, I have no doubt. We need bodies ( preferably half decent ones ) and quickly

*waits for the first person to tell me to grow up and/or stop pissing my pants*

Re: Stay up or go down again ?
Yup, Carlton Fucking Cole up front on his own, AGAIN.

I can't believe it, they must be mad.

Can't see me doing any aways this season.

Eggbert

Villa played like an Alex McLeish team last season

That's why they fired him and brought in Lambert. They will be a tough opponent for a side that cannot create, cannot defend and who intends to hoof the ball up to Carlton Cole whenever in possession.

Re: Stay up or go down again ?
Always amazed and amused at the blind optimism with west ham fans. The defence is very poor, the midfeild so slooooow and the attack, well no idea where the goals are going to come from. Apart from that I think were in pretty good shape to play the season afetr in the Championship

Re: Stay up or go down again ?
Awful saturday, as bad as it gets for me.

Pre season or not, you expect a bit of match fitness/sharpness to be there with only 2 weeks left till the opener, didnt see any of that.

Formation was all over the place.

Unless we add to the squad, we will go down

Re: Stay up or go down again ?
I'm still concerned about twhere we are going to get our goals from and about getting exploited at the back, especially out wide.

Ernie

Villa at home isn';t that tough, they were fucking woeful last season

not saying we'll win, buit there are a ton of harder games we could have had

like about 14 or 15 tougher games

Re: Stay up or go down again ?
Starting to get a little worried now, not going to lie.

Transfer deadline day deals again it seems so a little wait to go. I just hope we have enough QUALITY to see us through the first few games.

Re: Stay up or go down again ?
mac-hope youre right mate but saturday was very worrying .

Villa at home first up is a fucking tough game and at the moment can see us getting dicked.

Re: Stay up or go down again ?
I think we'll start off well. I certainly don't fear any of the opening set of fixtures.

No reason we can't go and nick some points. Swansea and Norwich will have totally new Managers and a different style of play to what they're used to.

I reckon Allardyce can exploit that.

Re: Stay up or go down again ?
one mac-certainly looks that way mate.

We need a good start with our opening fixtures and at the moment its looking very dodgy

Re: Stay up or go down again ?
I think we could be past a point of no return very early on.

The first batch of games look great, however I dont see anything in this squad or games thus far which show we can a) defend b) create c) score - people say "its only pre-season"..yes, its one game from the season now, and we look worse all over the park, every game.

If we dont get a decent haul of results in the first three months, november and december look "pointless" to me..

Re: Stay up or go down again ?
i am now more worried about our Manager ,Due to his gaining us promotion G&S are putting all their eggs in his basket ,

He says i just need Carroll to stay up ,
Never in a million years ,We all see the short falls of the team ,The weak defence ,No Goal maker in Midfield ,Weare still not sure about our Keeper ,
Sam says forget that lets pay Caroll £100,000 a week we will be ok What rubbish

I rate Konate would like Olsson they and a few more would be our savers Wake up G&S
before its to late

Re: Stay up or go down again ?
The owners tried to stay up on the cheap a couple of seasons ago and it backfired. Are they trying to do the same, just with a better manager this time? Massive gamble if they are.

Re: Stay up or go down again ?
Cole up front = relegation again.

Simple as that really. We've settled for a mediocre left back, a right back with fitness issues, no creative midfielder, and a centre half with the turning circle of the Tilbury Ferry.

We could possibly get away with any or all of that, if we had someone who could score 15 goals or more this season. At the moment, we haven't.

Re: Stay up or go down again ?
What I don't get is that top level football is pivotal first to making the Olympic Stadium a success, should we move there, & essential if the club is to grow. With the players that have left the club you could argue that our nett investment in players so far has been zero, given that the play off final was apparently worth £90m you have to ask yourself why this is.

I still remain hopeful that we can bring in some real quality, but there's now less than 2 weeks to go & as it stands I see nothing other than a real struggle to stay up.

Re: Stay up or go down again ?
Things are on the up, in my opinion.

It's a better result than the last time we played Ipswich.

Re: Stay up or go down again ?
We're obviously really struggling financially to get a squad together for the Villa game.

I can't see anything but relegation at the moment.

I guess the plan is to hang onto the last week of august and pick up a few bargains, by which time we may have already dropped valuable points with Villa and Swansea.
