West Ham United have failed in a bid to sign Andy Carroll despite Liverpool accepting their £19 million offer reports Harry Harris
The Hammers had agreed a £2 million season-long loan with a stipulation that they pay £17 million at the end of the season should they retain their Premier League status.
However, having spent weeks working on the bid and finding the resources to fund the England international's £80,000 a week wages, Carroll has rejected the chance to move to Upton Park.
"Sadly we have a deal in place with Liverpool, but the player does not want to come permanently at this time," a club source told ESPN.
West Ham had hoped that the fact Carroll's agent, Mark Curtis, also represents Sam Allardyce and Kevin Nolan may boost their chances of a move, with Nolan a good friend of the striker.
However, it is understood that Carroll is only willing to play for a club that is competing in European competition, and Newcastle United, who had earlier seen a bid rejected, would be his preferred destination if he is to leave Anfield.

as has been mentioned many times, the transfer fee would mainly be paid from next year and probably over 4 years. to reitterate we dont magically have 18m to spend on players right this second.

The most stupid part of this whole farce is what it says to plyers n agents of players we are still after. Ie we are willing to pay monster wages for talent and clearly have dosh to dispense.

I don't know who to believe any more. We were told that Ramis was done, then the Daily Mail said it wasn't. The Daily Mail was cunted off as a shit rag by all and sundry but it turned out to be true.
We were then told that we were bidding for Carroll, some posters on here said we weren't, then it turns out we were. 3 Weeks later we're still trying.
Add to that all this talk of doubling our Transfer Record for some player called Mark Key (who i have never heard of).

Well this whole deal will go down in the annuals as even more of a farce than last years Remy deal.
We've spent weeks of leaking and spinning over a transfer target who never once said he wanted to come here.
The whole thing has been one massive distraction and now with two weeks to go our squad is still too thin. Note our assistant manger says the squad is too thin.

Can i just reiterrate, that anyone who buys a season ticket on the basis of a rumoured or potential signing is a massive cunt and deserves their 'bait'.
I do not believe this happens though.

Why was it a waste of time? We wanted him and put up a deal which LIverpool accepted. He didn't want to move and wanted to stay and fight for his place. We really wanted him and offered him a great deal to entice him into changing his mind and coming. He stood his ground and wanted to stay at Scouse. We look elsewhere.
What is the problem to so many people about that? Why do some people criticise the owners for signing average players and then criticise the owners for aiming too high.
It's almost like we are the first club a player has turned down.
