This Olympic malarky.
I dont want to get all Daily Mail about it, but itys going to be a fucking disaster isnt it?

There's about a 50/50 chance the main route into london from Heathrow wont be operational, that is if they can get through the airport, of course.

The queues are biblical, as it is ...

I'm booked for two events but personally the thought of the triple + checking and searching and related bollocks by local jobsworths wearing hi-vis jackets is putting me right off.

There's not much english or british about eating a big mac and drinking a heineken beer ( not that I will do either, but you know what I mean..)

Its just a huge fucking " official sponsor" media orgy- and as for the fucking torch journey...what is all that about?!

We'll be paying for this, forever, via council tax - sure there might be a "legacy" however is this REALLY the best way to spend £10 Billion +

I cant see that it will have any difference on the tourist take- millions of people come to london anyways so I Imagine there might even be a net loss when compared with a normal year.

Schools and local sports have had money taken away to fund this spectacular, so again, the legacy is probably negative.

with two weeks to go, they suddenly realise they are 3,500 security fools short,, so the army are now now called in- what an easy target they have suddenly become for the locals....

There are many things I detest the labour parties dire stewardship of this country for- this is RIGHT UP THERE.

My guess is that we'll get less medals than beijing, in fact im going to put some money down on that...

.
And of course, it will piss down with rain in a stadium with no roof...

.(..which we may or may not get and we may or may not grow to like, of course.)

People are moaning because the Olympics has got fuck all to do with the "olympic values".

Its a crass commercial bandwagon full of jeremy's and spivs glad handing their mates a few million.

Its probably the only sporting organisation more corrupt than FIFA.

Fifth column,

What a bizarre post!

If that hill has people with mental and physical disabilities riding a bike faster than I could ever hope to ride one, then I'll gladly go there.

I like seeing different sporting arenas to get a sense of what it's really like - for example the undulations of link golf courses cannot truly be understood on the tv. I've never seen a velodrome in person and curious to see what it's like whilst also cheering on incredibly talented athletes.

so, I'll politely ignore your advice and keep my tickets.

Anders, it's the Daily Mail effect, they are turning a huge portion of Brits into moaners

"I've never seen a velodrome in person, so looking forward to seeing how steep the slope actually is. "

You could have saved yourself a few bob and gone to your nearest hill to look at a slope.

In fact re-sell the tickets and thank me later.

Re: This Olympic malarky.
Stop moaning you cunt. Its people like you that give this country a bad name. Why don't you fuck to Spain or somewhere and take your fucking moaning with you.

We are British and we will make adecent fist of it. We are over G4S scandal, everything will work reasonably and it will be a success.

Why do people in this country love to fucking moan and be negative about everything and anything, it really pisses me off. Other countries would be positive and filled with pride the world is coming to their doorstep. But not us, we cant stop moaning like fucking children. I blame the stinking, rotten media in this country and the fucking idiots that swallow it.

alphaharps - Sadly, I'm sure we'll find a few WHOers who'll find reasons to criticise the paralympians...

Yeah the Velodrome is the one I want.
Anyone who doesn't feel inspired by the Paralympics must have a cold heart

Re: This Olympic malarky.
Good on you, alphaharps, for getting involved too in the paralympics. I'll be volunteering at the excel centre for the sitting volleyball - looked up a few videos of what that consists of on youtube and it looks bloody impressive!

Fingers crossed you'll get a cycling ticket, my brother picked up a couple for me and him, so I'll go there on my day off. I've never seen a velodrome in person, so looking forward to seeing how steep the slope actually is.

BR, I did at the time, but may now do a search for him. I fucking LOVED the Aussielympics, they just took the piss from start to finish. Just what the knobs at the IOC deserved. I hope we do the same.

From my office I can see right down the Estuary... for about three days now a small naval ship has been moored up... found out today it is there for security for the Olympics... only thing it is not a RN craft but a Border Agencies cutter... has no gun... just a nice big hose on the front.... which is nice and comforting

Re: This Olympic malarky.
Anyone watch that pendleton doc' and then afterwards that 50 Greatest Olympic moments??

Some excellent TV that.... my personal fav was teh cheating Russian fencer who had wired his foil up with a button... all he had to do was press the button and a light would light up and he'd get a point... only thing was he tried it on with Bristish Army Officer... classic

Oh and Eric the Eel.... Ha ha ha... i still swear he is in the pool trying to get to the end
