Tex, yep.

The bloke looks seriously wound up about Christ knows what, bit (LOT) of an angry person going on there. Must be 100s and 1000s of ex-footballers who could offer more constructive analysis of games.

TBH I couldn't give a fuck about the Olympics football tournament. he only thing i care about is that Tomkins comes through unscathed.

Agreed ...

Some sort of Ethnic Imbalance there...

Not much criticism of Richards was there...even after his blatant ...stupid...unnecessary Penalty foul...

Re: GB V Brazil - Tomkins starts
Garth Crooks was right about the CD pairing not having enough playing time together, to deal with a team such as Brazil's front line movement.

But it was like a vehement launch into Tomkins personally, that was wide of the mark. Bloke couldn't get off or away from that particular 'cause'.

almost as if he had nothing else to say, constructive or otherwise.

Did you know we had a British Olympic team, 20 years before the first ever World Cup.

Brazil and neymar are three months into the season. Tomkins had a very unfamiliar defense and goalkeeper around him and only played 45mins before last night. The back four was set up all wrong by that clown Pearce. I don't give a shit about the farcical 'team gb' football and as long as West ham uniteds best center half comes through injury free I'm happy.

James tomkins is top draw and last night means Fuck all.

I don't quite understand this shit business. Can someone not have a bad game or put in a bad performance without being shit?

and can England do that? No

Farce

Yes, yes you're working on it or whatever but it's stupid to have a British team, that was Tomkins second 45 minutes of PRE-SEASON.

England can't use this tournament as a springboard for the 2014 World Cup because England have been denied entry to these Olympics held in England.

Re: GB V Brazil - Tomkins starts
The tournament a farce eh
Funny how Brazil are using it as a springboard to the 2014 World Cup.
Ever wonder why we can't produce any decent young players

Tomkins is a very good player... Cannot believe the comments on here regarding him.FFS. The GB Team last night were outclassed by Brazilians and now suddenly our best Defender is shite... Tomkins will be fine this season and for the next half dozen !!!!

Haha some truely laughable comment re Tomkins on here.

Pathetic from some of our so called fans but not unexpected.

This tournement is a farce

Just been to my final Olympic training as a volunteer for football. I asked about ticket sales. 85% of Wembley tickets are sold. S.Korea v Gabon is a sell out. Team GB women v Brazil is going to smash the record women's attendance for Europe

Re: GB V Brazil - Tomkins starts
What people probably forget is that Tomkins plays on the right of a centre back pairing, not the left side.

Love the knicker wetting on this thread, one poor game Tomkins is shit and Team GB competing in the Olympics is pointless.

Madness.

LAD 11:06 Sat Jul 21
Re: GB V Brazil - Tomkins starts
Tomkins was very rusty, caught out of position a few times and his mistake of ball watching lead to the goal.

Richards isn't a centre half, no way.

Also, TOM CLEVERLEY is fucking shit.

Didnt watch but I am going to the Wembley quarter final and the final.
Am looking forward to seeing the likes of Brazil and Uruguay and have no expectation or wish to see Britain.
My only concern is if Tomkins is to be the scapegoat then he may not play at all and if GB go too far he'll be short of games on Aug 18.

Didn't watch the game, because i have zero (ZERO) interest.

When it comes to football, i'm ENGLISH, not British.

But, just so i know, is Tomkins now shit?

Tex - Agreed. Beckham should have been there, he's still a good player and as you point out is match fit,

Re: GB V Brazil - Tomkins starts
Tomkins was shit, he just didn't look up with the others. Although we hate Crooks, he was right.

OK in the championship but now I remember pretty iffy in the PL.

I fear for our season.

We need to buy some quality and quick, were not going to get away with cheap loans, has beens or players no-one else wants.

Re: GB V Brazil - Tomkins starts
The first game this te has ever played against the best in the world and people are wetting their pants.

Firstly I thought nobody cared about football at he Olympics even though football has been in the Olympics before the world cup even existed.

Secondly, imagine Beckham trying to hold the right hand side with some of the quickest (running and minds) young players in the world zipping around him, you really thing playing the long ball from the right would be the way to play against brazil? FFS we wasted 10 yrs of English football relying on this one tactic and it didn't work then.

Re: GB V Brazil - Tomkins starts
Massive gulf in quality. Shows what a pointless effort this GB team and Olympic football is.
A load of Championship and Premiership reserve players not wanting to get injured playing some world class talent.
If GB were serious about having a go at this then the best U23 should have been chosen and the best over 23s to supplement them. The clubs would never allow it though.
