Smoking breaks at work...
|
|
Bloke I work with must smoke about 10 a day during work hours and be outside for at least an hour maybe more. Just caught him outside on a bench eyes shut in the sun with a can of coke having a fag.
Personally I think that's a piss take.
Do any of you smokers have to make up the time spent? Or any bosses on here make you employees make up the time?

My company disciplines anyone smoking in their company car. I'm not a smoker but that's a tough rule. The driver pays additional tax for having a company car so he should be able to smoke in it if he wants.

This doesn't affect me because I can take a break whenever I want without annoying anybody but.....
People who smoke used to do so at their desks. I agree that it's wrong due to the dangers of passive smoking which weren't understood at the time. Fair enough, the law was changed and rightly so.
The side effect is, so that you can now enjoy a smoke free work environment and increased life expectancy, your colleagues now take breaks outside (in all weathers, not just on sunny days). So which alternative would the anti smokers prefer?
a) Your addicted colleagues taking breaks to feed their government endorsed addiction or
b) Smoking is made illegal, less breaks are taken, bosses realise they don't need as many staff because more people are at their desks more of the time, more people live longer and unemployment gets worse as a result, and everyone has to pay more tax to make up for the revenue not being collected from smokers or
c) Go back to how it used to be and have a permanent fog in your office but at least your colleagues are putting in the same hours as you, because you NEVER scive off do you?
You can't have it all. So which ONE will you choose?

Had same problem with one of the people on my team, HR said smoking is not a "right". He is simply taking a break, regardless of the smoking. if you can prove that he doesn't need to take 10 breaks a day, because his job does warrant that many, you can address issue.

At work?
I don't. Funny you should mention wanking at work a few times.
The only person to ever have such a keen interest in wanking at work and if others do that was Millhouse.
Hello Milly. How's things?

Mark, it doesn't. He's on youtube most of the day fucking about. I don't mind that though. Just be at your desk looking like you're working at least.

At my work people just go for a fag when they get the chance.
So last time a couple of people went for a fag I stopped and sat down with a cup of tea, was told to get back to work. I replied that soon as my fag break is over I'll get back to work. When told I obviously wasn't smoking I said but if I was you wouldn't have told me to get back to work. With that my supervisor walked of with a face like a slapped baboons arse!

Bi-Ron,
Also if you factor in the time you spend wanking in the disabled toilets I think the smokers are getting a rough deal working with you.

Bi-Ron,
tot up how much time your co-workers spend smoking vs how much time you spend on here during the working day I think you'll find it'll all even out.

I-Ron, yep.
Last time was when I broke my ankle, which thinking about it now, is closer to 20 than 15 years.

I have ciggie breaks at work.
On the flipside, I haven't had a day off sick, 15 years plus.
I think people who have weeks off with 'a cold' should be sacked.

I don't smoke at work and do not really give one tiny fuck about how anyone else behaves.
