Agreement for the transfer of Ramis
The player has agreement from the Club to take a medical with West Ham
RCD Mallorca and West Ham have reached an agreement for the transfer of Ivan Ramis. The Mallorca defender has the permission of the Club to take the medical with what will be his new team.
RCD Mallorca achieved the economic objective for which it has been working in recent weeks.
For Ramis it is a new challenge in the Premier League. After eight years in the first team at RCD Mallorca and two more in the reserves, he has become one of the most important players of the team.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is signing Real Mallorca centre-half Ivan Ramis for £4million - on the rebound after he was snubbed by West Ham.
Ramis met Latics on Tuesday to finalise the deal and have a medical, just 24 hours after Hammers turned their attention to Aston Villa centre-back James Collins instead.
The experienced Ramis met Martinez and chairman Dave Whelan at the start of the saga, but was leaning towards a move to east London until that door seemingly closed.

we have just been promoted, through the play offs. wigan have been an established PL team for the last 7 years, plus their manager is fluent in spanish and the player, it seems, hardly speaks a word of english. not hard to understand is it really?

Sounds stupid, but had we signed Ramis, and Collins signed for Wigan, i'd probably be disappointed...

I know Whelan has said he only speaks Spanish as well but how funny, he bowls up and BFS is chatting away to him and the fucker can't understand a single word........
Bloke I hear has been after a move to England for a while, you think he would have learnt some of the lingo.

I heard similar KIA, he only speaks spanish, no english, martinez is spanish.

I have no idea if this is true but I have it from a decent enough source that his agent told us he could speak basic English BUT when he turned he really couldn't

Alan Nixon actually had his finger on the pulse for once on this. He tweeted on Monday afternoon that Ramis wouldn't be coming after what happened the morning he was over for talks.
He didn't elaborate anymore than that. It wasn't until later that evening that anyone else mentioned there were doubts about the deal.
Whether West Ham pulled out or he took more money elsewhere is regardless, our intentions were to bring in both he and Collins so I'd be very surprised if we dont bring in another player who can play at CB and maybe cover a FB position too.

Mallorca didn't say it had been finalised. We agreed a fee and the personal negotiations didn't end up in us signing him, nor did anyone at the club, 12 yr olds included, suggest we were signing him. I can't see how that marks this transfer out form hundreds of others.
I think you're pissing in the wind here, make sure you're pointing the right way.

How do you know we flew to Spain for this deal? As for Jack Sullivan's tweets. for a start he is just a kid, albeit one that has inside knowledge and is allowed to share, secondly what's the problem with being given info on players we are trying to sign? you do realise that we can't and won't sign EVERY player we are trying to sign, don't you?

It would have been better if the club had said the they noted Mallorcas statement but that the deal wasn't formalized and people should wait until it is confirmed on our website.
