Dubstep at the Global Gathering

As some of you know, I'm an old cunt but I'm pretty handy with a camera. I was official photographer for Loaded magazine at Global Gathering 2012 (a massive dance festival and 'who can take the most drugs' contest up in Stratford upon Avon) for you fellow old cunts who don't know.
Now I fucking hate dance music generally (I'm still at heart a Punk) and despite my job being essentially photographing semi-naked women I was dreading last weekend. Everyone in my little team were.
I have to say though that despite some poor kid who was out with us choking to death on his own vomit in his tent later, it was the best weekend I've had in ages.
I normally go in the press pit, snap away for the first three songs right down the front and fuck off out of it but by the time I got to photograph two acts I'd never even heard of, Labrinth and Chance and Status, three songs was not enough and I had to get my sorry mid-forties arse into the mosh pit with seven grand's worth of camera hanging round my neck for photos of the light show.
What a fucking brilliant racket Dubstep is! I love the Prodigy but that stuff is even harder and much more 'London'- patriotic even. I felt like I've fallen back in love with music again.
So the question is: Why haven't any of the young pups amongst you alerted me to this sooner, you cunts? You know this is the only site I post on and if I'm going to stay in touch with the yoofs (aside from beating them up of course) I'm relying on you younger West Ham bods to keep me informed.
Sort it out WHO!

Thing is, modern "dubstep" isn't fuck all like it was originally meant to sound like. The clue is in the name, "dub", for years (I'm talking 2003-2009) it was a very slow, mellowed out, spacey and ambient reggae-influenced vibe that filled room 3's at big DnB raves and chill-out bars almost entirely in London and Bristol. Stuff like Skrillex has absolutely NOTHING in common with it.
Its the equvilent of calling happy hardcore, acid jazz.
Also people who mosh at dance events need to fucking die. Sort of posh student twats who scream EPIC BANTER LAD when someone downs a pint.

I LOVE that everyone who loves all the kind of music I can't fucking stand like R&B hate DUBSTEP because it's such a noise. I've waited years to see how the raw fusion of Punk, Grunge and the heavily distorted discordant energy of dance music would pan out and at last I've found it.
As someone on this thread so wisely said "it's Drum and Bass for people who hate Drum and Bass".
Moreover, I don't think I've ever come across a style of music that so aptly captures the feeling of being off your tits on E. Fanfuckingtastic.

Dubstep is fucking awful! I love most forms of dance music but this shit makes me cringe. Not really sure how people go about dancing to it either, there's no rhythm to it, no groove...just intermittent noises and messy breakdowns.

I've always been a Prodigy fan and they were one of the reasons I went to Download this year. I had however never heard of Chase and Status who were playing before them. Bought their albums before I went and really enjoyed listening. Saw them play and was very impressed. Superb live act.
I'm a rock fan at heart but really like some of this style. Also helps when you've boshed some Mandy mind.
