Team GB v Uruguay - Tomkins dropped.........

Come on Uruguay......
Loving the Olympics but the football is a waste of time and our man is being treated like a bit of a cunt by Pearce.

Overall we were definitely the better side - must say though I thought Suarez was very, very unlucky to be booked for what I thought looked more like a good penalty shout on his behalf. Would've been interesting if they'd had that awarded.
Saying that, it's a case of the boot being on the other foot isn't it - I still remember his wild celebrations after Ghana missed the penalty he conceded!

I think Pearce has done a great job considering the amount of time he has had the squad together.
He is not worried about changing the team around, and trying to play in the right way.
After the 1st game he dropped Sturridge and told him he had not done what he was asked, and brought him back and his performance has improved. I just can't see an England manager doing that to Rooney.

FFS. Did you see Tomkins play. I would have dropped him as well he was total shit. I just hope he just didnt want to get injured or mess his hairstyle because if he plays like that in the Prem he'll get dropped again

XR you are right the they did look tired over the last 20 , but they had to dig in and done that , Thought Uruguay really pushed players up front for this period mind as they had to go for broke so pushed 6 up front in the end . This almost allowed Sturridge to score .Overall good performance especially the way they handled Suarez and Cavani .

Bellamy was great, Taylor and Allen impressed me too...so all in all the Welsh did fine!
Was alarming how badly we tired towards the end though & how bad we became at keeping possession. I thought Pearce left his subs ludicrously late for pre-season tournament football.

In fairness - Tomkins - when he has played - has been $hit.

And to be fair, despite some bizarre selections, Pearce has always got his teams playing reasonably well.
He could be a very good 'Head Coach' with a more experienced head advising him on selections to avoid the Frazier Campbell-esque decisions.

I can understand people not rating Pearce as a manager but to call him a CUNT or to HATE him after what he did for our club is a joke frankly.
Why would you care about what he did for Man City or England U-21s when he wanted to play on with a BROKEN leg for us.

I didn't say they mimicked their exact style of play though, and as I just explained, it was aimed at them topping the group whilst not playing that great. Looking solid at the back and grinding out the results.

England set out to hit everyone on the counter and play defensively.
This side have not done that, in fact they've been on top in all of their games apart from the odd 15 minute spell.

Yes, I have watched them, bar the first half tonight.
I think they have been very well set up defensively, and gone through top whilst not looking a particularly threatening outfit.
