Easiest medal to obtain?
|
Don't know the official discipline name but it's the 'dancing around a bit with little flair while waving some silly string' one that Gabby Logan failed to win a medal for. That's the easiest surely.

It has to be a sport that doesn't rely on athleticism to start with as you would have missed the boat on all of those.
If not fit and if you had the time and money to practice then surely shooting and archery are the sports where you could get good enough to compete?
My boy is Gloucester Under 9 bare bow champion and is only just 8 so I'll be keeping my fingers crossed on an Olympics in 3 Olympics time. He is now competing at U12 status and got beaten by a N Ireland kid called Craig Gordon! Surely Scottish and too old I thought.

I fenced for a few years. It is a fucking hard sport, you can pick the basics us fairly easily, but getting to be any good takes ages. My teacher was a 70 year old fella who used to teach in public schools. He was about five foot two, but could tie you up in knots simply becuase he could suss out what you were going to do before you could do it.
Its also fucking hot in the kit as well, that gear is all double/hidden stiched to stop the tips sneaking through when blades broke.

Shooting.
[points pistol at medal winner] I'll have that. ta
Don't think it's that easy. You can't practice pistol shooting in the UK as it's illegal. Our pistol shooters have to go abroad to train and practice.

It has to be Equestrian.
Very few nations compete.
Basically some 65 year old woman helped us get silver medal.
If you had the time and money to train then i don't see how you'd fail.

I'd say shooting, because it requires less physical skill than anything else and therefore should in theory be the simplest to get good at, but if it was easy, any old mug could do it.

I'd say Archery, but I've done it and it is a lot harder than it looks. Theres no muscle memory involved in it like you get in darts, plus accounting for the wind and keeping steady with the pressure on your arm isn't easy.
Its a good sport to do though.
