Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
Just finished The Killing liked it a lot but not really the last season as much.

Breaking Bad, Homeland done

Was going to do Luther or The Wire next - can you tell me which one is best of the two?

I recently binged the whole of BB, was good and some episodes better than others but I wouldn’t say it was the best.
And most definitely agree with the earlier poster re: the fly episode.

Watched Gomorrah since the weekend and have got to series 3 . It is excellent 9.5/10 , if your at a loose end give it a shot you could do worse.

Oh and Stranger Things season 3 is the best yet, especially if you love your 80’s nostalgia

You HAVE to stick with BB, brilliant show, and no spoilers but the “reveal” is emotional stuff.

first season is slow and i know several people who gave up before finishing it.

but after that it gets exponentially better as it continues and every character starts losing all moral compass

Jim79 - Sure, but folk have put this up there with The Sopranos, The Wire etc..so I'm expecting something special and I think that's fair.

All opinions Manuel, I personally couldn't wait to watch the next BB. I loved the character development and the build of the story. Once Saul Goodman appears you will know what I mean.

Breaking bad starts slow but gets better and better throughout, except the fly episode that was awful.

Jim - You know how a judge a good show? It's when you can't wait until you watch the next episode. but with this I'm in no hurry. But yes, will stick with it just on the basis that so many people can't be wrong. I was just expecting something better though, so far..

Shows can be very good/interesting without loads of action btw..and I've seen plenty of them.

Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
Manuel, just save your over riding view of it until you have finished it. A lot of the elements you may consider slightly tedious at these early stages are just setting the scene for later. Its not all action all of the time but its also not meant to be, if you want that then something like Sons Of Anarchy is more your bag (also brilliant).

Yea, not saying it's crap and I'm sure it will get better, but the best show ever?? There was a reason why it took me so long to get around to it.

I wouldn't say Breaking Bad is average. More like a series of highs and lows. Most of the characters are great but White's whiny young sidekick and his boring family take up way too much screen time and there's a lot of tedium spread throughout those 60+ hours, not just at the start, although as said it does improve with the appearance of Gus and Mike.

Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
Breaking Bad does get so much better, becomes very dark as the seasons clock up and the character development of Walter White is sublime. The latter additions of characters such as Gus Fring and Mike is first class.

Gomorrah is one of the best things I;ve ever watched. The latest, 4th season, was the best yet and im just grateful that it is slated for a 5th.

I FINALLY got around to starting Breaking Bad, considering many say it's the best show ever, I really do hope it gets a lot better, as I'm 5 episodes in and it is extremely average?

Been watching Gomorrah. Fucking amazing viewing. Can't beleive I waited so long. Midway through season 2. Gennaro has grown on me.

However I really hate Ciro since I have become convinced he is actually Simone Zaza

I hadn't been arsed to watch it as its all in Italian so sub titles but Gomorrah is superb.

Another superb series that takes a bit to get into is the Handmaids tale, up to season 3, very dark and very well made, often seems to slow right down, then all of a sudden it throws something in that makes you sit up and go WTF! As you just didn't see coming.

I just finished KE too..nowhere near the first series, it all just got a bit 'silly' almost like a comedy.

I’ve finished Killing Eve. It was very entertaining all the way through, but at the end of it I just felt “what is the point of it all?”
