Jesus was a myth
|
Daily Mail today. Bollocks or not bollocks. 126 writers that lived during the time Jesus was supposed to have lived never mention his name. The one mention he does get was proven to be an addition that was added years later.
Me? Religion is complete bollocks and here is another piece of proof that mankind is a controlled and manipulated species.

It is astounding that so many in the World and even a secular country like ours cannot see that these stories are just that... stories. Sure, they were a way to enable human beings to control the masses but there is little "reality" to them. In times gone by when no one could read or write and education was non-existent or low standard, the stories were a useful tool for moral and behavioural standards to stop men killing each other or stealing other wives. The problem with religion is the organisations (man made/contrived) behind them and in non-secular countries especially (middle east etc...) is the fact that these artificial organisations are inextricably interlinked with the state / government of the nation and do not allow people to think for themselves or take any responsibility as a result. It is achieved through strict mind control and daily rituals and tough penalties (e.g. Sharia Law) to keep it reinforced for every minute of consciousness.
Jesus/Mohammed were stories no doubt and does not really warrant debate IMHO and is confined by the evidence (there is none). That said, the stories served and still serve a useful purpose in terms of guidance on how to treat other people and behave although I reckon you could fit the basic tenets on a beer mat (be kind, treat others with respect and as you expect to be treated).
But religious organisations are power structures that garner enormous wealth and riches for some and will always exist while they can indoctrinate millions from the minute they leave the womb. I mean what chance have you got when you are conditioned to believe nonsensical stories before you take your first steps.
All these stories likely link back to Horus and before that Sun worship and pagan beliefs (Zodiac with the cross at the centre, 12 constellations=disciples, etc...)?. At least you can see the Sun and most agree it serves as the source of all life on this planet :)

In 2000 years time, after some terrible near extinction event at some point in that timescale, I imagine people having this conversation about popular figures from the 20th and 21st centuries. Trying to work out if Captain Mainwaring was a real, historical military figure or not.

And Jesus was a sailor When he walked upon the water And he spent a long time watching From his lonely wooden tower And when he knew for certain Only drowning men could see him He said "All men will be sailors then Until the sea shall free them" But he himself was broken Long before the sky would open Forsaken, almost human He sank beneath your wisdom like a stone

Its not that he wasn't considered important until 300 years after his death its just that he wasn't OFFICIAL for 300 years. Some people thought he was important enough to die for 30 years after his death. Its true that they were a small minority, but they confused the fuck out of the majority and the authorities.

Well you know the saying "Whatever floats your boat". I think songs of praise is great and if it gives people happiness so be it. I see what the media is doing and I see that religion is not all that bad because sex is being sold 24/7 to children and within 10 years in the name of democracy we will see men's penises flapping around several times a day on the BBC and most channels they may not be a religion but they are slowly killing brains you would say"Just like religion" does, I would say probably more so.

He probably wasn't mentioned as he wasn't considered that important until 300 years after his death. At that point he was considered a martyr and I would imagine that's when the tale of his life was emeblished/made up.

Yeah, strange that! Its almost as if it never happened! I expect the Romans were so shocked by the violence that they decided to never speak about it. Mind you, Augustus did say that he would rather be one of Herod's pigs than one of his children. Much safer apparently.

Yeah. Unfortunately Herod seems to have been such a nasty piece of work that the slaughter of the Bethlehem innocents seems to have been totally overlooked by the otherwise scrupulous Romans.

The stories of his birth don't add up (that doesn't matter much - coz as oral history of a person of low birth we shouldn't really expect the gospels to have a Scooby about the truth). We get the date of his birth from Luke (2:1) who says that when he started preaching he was about 30 and Tiberius had been emperor for thirty years. Or He was born at the time of a census ordered by the Emperor Augustus. This could only be when Syria and Judea were turned into a province of the Empire. 9 AD I think (look it up) By the way in a Roman census you don't travel, you just get counted where you are, so the 'had to go to Bethlehem' bit is total bullshit. Or He was born when Herod was king who tried to kill him. Herod died about 5BC
As I say its kinda what you would expect of an oral tradition written 70 years after the fact.

I opened the daily mail article and the second bullet point was this:
"Jesus is thought to have lived from about 7BC to 33AD in the Roman Empire"
Now I know many don't believe in Christ but surely living 7 years before you were born has to be a miracle doesn't it?

He never was a fast worker though, don't forget the human species was godlessly traipsing around for roughly 195,000 of the 200,000 years of its existence before God decided to show up, well after the agricultural revolution, but long before any technological progress.

Not a very fast worker for an omnipotent being then OG, if it took 1600 years to reach it's zenith.
It's an interesting idea that European Society was at it's peak during the renaissance, given the widespread poverty and low life expectancy of the vast majority at that time.

Can we do this one please rolt?
Lord Jesus Christ you have come to us You are one with us, Mary's Son. Cleansing our souls from all their sin pouring Your love and goodness in Jesus our love for you we sing, living Lord.
Lord Jesus Christ now and every day Teach us how to pray, Son of God. You have commanded us to do this in remembrance Lord of you Into our lives your power breaks through, living Lord.
Lord Jesus Christ, you have come to us Born as one with us, Mary's Son. Led out to die on Calvary, risen from death to set us free, living Lord Jesus help us see You are Lord.
Lord Jesus Christ I would come to you live my life for you, Son of God. All your commands I know are true, your many gifts will make me new, into my life your power breaks through, living Lord.

Re: Jesus was a myth

Jesus was a great man, a prophet and inspiration (some might say sent here on Earth by God) who shown us the light and truth, his life and cruel merciless slaughter inspired a religion (man made) and civilisation that reached its zenith in Europe around the 1600's as evidenced by all the great works of art, literature and architecture you see the remnants of around Europe, ever since then Western civilisation has been chipped away at and attacked by those who resented this monolithic Christian Western society to the point of rapid decline we're at today.
His memory in decline in that same society matches that of the overall decline of the society his life (and death) inspired.
Who knows maybe throwing away thousands of years of this magnificent culture and heritage is worth it just so that we can now focus as individuals on our own nihilistic selfish whims.
It's going great so far...

So...if you believe in the Sky Fairy, any evidence provided for an alternative view is disproved by belief, whilst at the same time encouraging others to 'prove' the existence of the sky fairy by reading things also written by believers......
Sounds legit.
