Re: favourite episode of Blackadder
The one with Tom Baker as the mad sea captain.

They have to drink each others piss, but Baker had been drinking it before they set off. Brilliant.

Re: favourite episode of Blackadder
BA: Right, good morning team. My name is Edmund Blackadder
and I'm the new minister in charge of religious genocide.
Now, if you play straight with me you'll find me a considerate
employer, but cross me and you'll find that under this playful
boyish exterior beats the heart of a ruthless sadistic maniac.
Now my man you are ?
MRP: Eh, jailor Sir, my Lord.
BA: Good, well done and your name is ?
MRP: Ploppy Sir.
BA: Ploppy ?
MRP: Yes Sir.
BA: Ploppy the jailor ?
MRP: That's right Sir. Ploppy son of Ploppy.
BA: Ploppy, son of Ploppy the jailor ?
MRP: Ah ach no Sir. I am the first Ploppy to rise to be jailor.
My father, Daddy Ploppy was known as Ploppy the slopper.
It was from him that I inherited my fascinating skin diseases.
BA: Yes you are to be congratulated, my friend, we, we live in an age
where illness and deformity are common place and yet Ploppy, you are
without a doubt the most repulsive individual that I have ever met.
I would shake your hand but I fear it would come off.
MRP: There's no many bosses would be that considerate sir.
BA: Thank you Ploppy, I do my best. Now then woman. if indeed you are a
woman, what is your function on death row ?
MRSP: I'm the last meal cook Sir. The prisoners may ask for what they fancy
for there last meal.....
BA: And you cook for them what they desire ?
MRSP: Oh yes Sir, provided they ask for sausages. Otherwise they tend to get
a tiny bit disappointed. Sausages is all I got.
BA: You are clearly a woman of principle and compassion mistress eh ?
MRSP: Ploppy Sir.
BA: Ah, so you are married to...
MRSP: No, many people think that but it's pure coincidence. We did laugh
when first we found out. "Good morning" mistress Ploppy he'd say,
and I'd say "good morning ..
MRP&
MRSP: Mr. Ploppy" (both laugh)
BA: The long winter evenings must just fly by.

Nothing funny about most of the last series either.

Surface dont be a prat all your life. They use because although we know the large numbers of people who died, the poignancy of that becomes more real when the last scene is played out. It is that aspect of the war which the school is trying to get across and if that inspires and engages those kids then that has to be a good thing surely?

Bells from Blackadder II has to be the best. The emergence of Lord Flashheart!!!

Re: favourite episode of Blackadder
The first series would probably stand as good comedy but for the subsequent three.

It does get panned in comparison, but "the Queen of Spain's Beard" from that series (Episode 4) stands out, for me.

"Most of the infantry think you're a prat. Ask them who they'd prefer to meet - Squadron Commander Flashheart or the man who cleans the public toilets in Aberdeen and they'd go for Wee Jock Poo-Pong McPlop every time."

The character of Queen Elizabeth in Blackadder II is just brilliant - fancying and wanting to marry pretty much every bloke she met.

'One of theocal secondary schools uses it as part of their history syllabus when coveing WWI '

Well, they should be ashamed of themselves.

They are all brilliant apart from the first series but if I had to pick one it would be ' Ink and Incapability' with Robbie Coltrane.

My favourite Character was Nursey.

Re: favourite episode of Blackadder
Some great stuff here.

One of my favourites:

Lord Percy Percy: I've done it, my Lord! I've discovered how to turn things into gold! Pure gold!

Blackadder: You have? Show me!

Lord Percy Percy: [takes lid off melting pot, and Baldrick, Percy and Blackadder are bathed in a green glow] Behold!

Blackadder: Percy... it's green.

Lord Percy Percy: Yes, my Lord!

Blackadder: Now, look, Percy, I don't mean to be pedantic or anything, but the color of gold... is gold. That's why it's called gold. What YOU have discovered, if it has a name, is some... Green.

Lord Percy Percy: [removes lump of Green from pot] Oh, Edmund... can it be true? That I hold here, in my mortal hand, a nugget of purest Green?

Lord Percy Percy: Yes indeed, Percy, except that it's not really a nugget but more of a splat.

Blackadder: Yes, my Lord. A splat today, but tomorrow, who knows, or dares to dream...

Series' 2, 3 and 4 were excellent. Too many great episodes to mention just one. The first series wasn't so good.

Re: favourite episode of Blackadder
The final episode when he tried desperately to get out of going 'over the top' and finally having to go, showing the futility of the whole bloody war.
