That Kray film, Legend.
Anyone seen it yet, is it any good?

They loved their mum, by the way.

Yesterday I watched the film "A Most Violent Year". It pissed all over this film. The difference was that this Krays film still seemed a bit comic book at times even though it was supposed to be real events.
A Most violent year is not a violent film though.

No

One has a budget of about 25 Million U.S Dollars and the Sullivan backed one is 25 Million Nigerian Dollars

Re: That Kray film, Legend.

Hang on, so this is not the Sullivan one?

I thought rise of Krays was alright I also liked the Kemp brothers version as well. The thing with Legend's is there were bits of it that were pure fantasy like Kray telling the Mafia bloke he like boys. Krays were not open about their sexuality and neither of them would just admit that I'm front of gangsters they don't even know.

Re: That Kray film, Legend.
I was a bit dubious about it but somebody who knows me said that I would be surprised and I should go watch it

So I did and thought Tom Hardy was first class...top acting performance. There were lots of light touches of comedy as well as the violence and his portrayaI of Ronnie was interesting.

I thought that the narration and voiceover was a bit one-paced and weak. Not because it was a woman but because narration is a skill in itself and her voice lacked experience or gravitas.

It was much better than the Kemp brothers one...that hasn't aged well at all...Inspector Blakey plays a military policeman in it...if I remember correctly.

I think he mumbles a bit. Couldn't understand him as Bane.

James Bond..nah too short.

Re: That Kray film, Legend.
I think Hardy could easily have achieved the same menace but somehow it was played down. The thing with Kingslies menace was the way the others reacted to him. They were obviously shit scared. It happened a bit in Legend but not in the same way.

It's high time people stopped making fillums about this pair of dickheads.

Sexy Beast was a brilliant film, and Ben Kingsley basically redefined the stereotype of the nutty gangster in his role. He was fucking immense. It was much better than this film, though this film is watchable.

Tom Hardy one is stylistic, glitzy and Hardy is excellent.

Sullivans one is gritty, pretty violent, the acting is poor in parts but you certainly feel like you know more about the krays after. Seems as though there is a second one coming.

There was so much more menace in Sexy Beast and the whole gay/gangster/posh thing was presented better.

Basically you're saying that he has The Autism.

"People with Autism may find it very difficult to understand social interaction and may see the world and people in it in a different way."

"They may see things very literally, ‘in black and white’ and can find abstract thought and imagination difficult. They can find it very hard or impossible to imagine what another person might be thinking or feeling."

Completely agree with that also.

Saw it last night and thought it was very good. I know it's almost a cliche but Hardy really is exceptional at portraying both the twins. Nothing worse than when someone is trying to act menacing when clearly they're about as menacing as a packet of Polos, but Tom Hardy genuinley looks like a bloke who could do you some damage which helps.

Compare it to that pile of shite Rise of the Krays that young Jack keeps shamelessly plugging. I couldn't give that any longer than about 12 minutes. The blokes playing the Krays really were abysmal.

I thought it was all a bit style over substance.

"If you wound in the absolutes from time to time and merely said something along the lines of 'Hardy's one of my favourite actors ever' people wouldn't think you were quite such an autistic cock."

It's actually pretty good, it did not get the high ratings as they used unknowns. The only thing that let it down was Kevin Leslie as Reggie Kray who just was backround most of the fim, Simon Cotton the other brother Ronnie was very good.
