I read it and looked up some of the case law for work a while ago.

You clearly haven't. You've only read the first couple of pages.

Under Art XX1, members have the right to select industries or areas of national security.

Fuel, food, medicine, arms, and infrastructure can all be included in this.

If a member is being politically persecuted, they can nominate far more areas.

If the UK sets no tariffs on imports from the EU in a no deal scenario, it has to set the same against everyone under the WTO most faboured nation principle. This is exactly why Canada told the UK to do one about trade deal - why do one if UK tariffs are already zero? All other countries would conclude the same.

This is a simple fact and im once again disappointed that rios has lost his mind.

it is my understanding that is how WTO works, based on the governments website. (https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/brexit/no-deal-brexit-and-wto-article-24-explained/) and yes, New Zealand did re-structure, but it took a long time to recover.

Wrong. You need to study case law under art XXI of WTO.

When we joined the EC, it devastated the NZ farm trade. It was extremely unfair and punished our tariff free trade deal with NZ in order to protect inefficient EU farmers.

NZ didn;t complain, they re-structured their farming industry and built one of the most successful in the world, all outside of the EU.

Very poor example.

Are you stating that all demand for UK products will instantly dry up the moment we leave?

I ask because that's exactly what it sounds like you're trying to get across.

And talking of Canada, as an example of how us adopting the WTO type terms. Under the WTO you cannot set a tariff of x on one country and y on another. The tariffs under WTO apply to every nation. We have stated their will be loads of imports that will have zero tariff.

If we fall out with No Deal, we have already said which goods will have zero tariffs, which a significant number of imports from Canada would have. Why would Canada be in a hurry to have a trade deal when they can ship as much as they want to us with 0 tariff. It will benefit their agriculture industry and destroy ours.

This is more than just 'believe in our country'. You don't get trade deals because you believe more.

The trade deal we get with the US will benefit one side. The morons in our government are so desperate to get a deal they will sell our country down the pan. The US will set the terms and we will capitulate to them. The US trade deal will also be affected by the Irish border. Despite the crap that Trump and his cronies spout, trade deals go through their houses and both of those are very pro Irish. If we put a hard border in Ireland getting any trade deal will be difficult. The Americans do not need us, they will only get involved when it suits their domestic agenda.

There is no 'special relationship' and if there was who in their right mind would want a close and meaningful with Trump and even more right wing government.

Countries like New Zealand took more than 20 years to recover from the loss of trade when we first joined the Common Market, it will take us just as long.

I have yet to hear any example of how we can get a trade deal better than the ones we currently have.

Yeah,yeah, yeah.

But it's really "us" and "them", innit?

Y'know...

Like, there's "us", right? That's us. We're "us". OK? Yah, OK.

Then there's "them". They're "them". See? Not us. We're "us". They're "them", they are. Different, see?

Us...

...Them.

Right-on.

The trade deal with the US will take years, and be an ongoing process.

It will be sector by sector, and concentrate firstly on those areas which could see the fastest symbiotic growth.

Both sides want to do a deal, not through fear but through common interests and built on centuries of enriching each other.

Brexiters consider an independent arbitration court to be 'vassalage'. Well, tou wont even get that with the US which has decided that only US courts will rule on international trade disputes, hence why theyve been vetoing nominations for the WTO court. Any disputs between american and british entities would be decided in US courts and guess which side they will tend tp find for?

You absolute wankers are trying to sell this country down the river.

Im goong to save myself up sone urine. There'll be a lot of graves to piss on.
