NFL (since 2016)
Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent.

Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB,

Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt.

lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all.

I’m watching this now. Doesn’t seem as good as College football to me. Perhaps that is because they are entirely new setups and gridiron needs a huge amount of different parts to know exactly what they are supposed to be doing in order to make plays work.

It felt more like watching college football than NFL.

Re: NFL (since 2016)
Big difference in quality but if it’s entertaining then that’s all that counts. Few interesting innovations like with the kick offs and the extra points. Good testing ground for ideas for the NFL and I think there’s definitely space for this league to coexist if they can get enough interest in the games- stadiums aren’t exactly packed out yet.

Not sure about the play calls being mic’d up. It doesn’t really add anything unless you know the playbook and terminology. I wonder how long before defences work out a way of stealing the calls, too...

So anybody watch the XFL last night? Saw bits of the DC game...quite enjoyed it actualy, liked the way the coach was mic up and you could hear him putting the plays in. High scoring aswell, although the defense was pretty atrocious as expected.....go DC!!!!!

Always worth a watch, even if it's just to watch the bits where the players introduce themselves.

DC defenders are the bookies favourites to win it, however much that's worth

Looking foward to the new XFL...gives me an excuse to watch some more. Yeah the standard wont be great to start with but should be interesting. Decided to follow the DC Defenders...only reason being I like their kits. If anybodys interested espn have got the games on live in the uk.

Understand no actual good team would ever move to london but i really dont want the London Jaguars, although the name does fit quite well.

If you get real desperate, the CFL preseason starts somewhere round May Long (Victoria Day) each year.

The quality was better than the XFL last time round and it has some differences in rules as well.

Re: NFL (since 2016)
Nah.

The AMERICAN football (I refuse to call it football, despite the fact that I reallyt like American Football) season is very much over.

It's all about the college games and the NFL.

Screw the rest of it. The next big thing is free agency and the draft.

Everybody out!

[Starts to pack away gear]

Re: NFL (since 2016)
So football season is not over.

the XFL run by Vince McMahon starts this weekend. they have some interesting rules that could be very fun to watch but not sure how much interest they'll actually generate with the standard of player they have.

Lets go New York Guardians?! Matt McGloin is one of the very few players ive heard of

Fair enough, I was just trying to squeeze in a totally original joke about NFL players getting arrested.
