Thatcher got her way
Destroyed the working class as strong communities.
The bods that bought their council house in the 80s now regard themselves as middle class.
All a load of bollocks.. But human beings are Greedy..and forget where they came from.
Working class people still exist.
Small pockets..up north bigger.
Proper working class people are salt of the earth

Try not paying your mortgage for a couple of months. If you end up out on your ear you're working class

That's quite a mouthful. I think we should abbreviate that to WMCBMATVFEAK.

Yes class system is everywhere from the military to education. The only difference now is we have a sub group called wannabe middle class basically middle aged Tory voters from Essex and Kent who are ashamed of their roots, cunts basically.

People were proud to be called Working class once, now I honestly don't think anyone really thinks in those terms anymore, although it probably exists more today than it ever has before.
The world is now about the haves and have not's, Money money money.

Re: Is there such a thing as working class?
There had better be such a thing, otherwise who will eat the working class food? (see previous stupid thread)

As for bad behaviour at Proms, it's hardly the children's fault if their parents haven't worked on their upbringing and have allowed them to grow up entitled brats.

Re: Is there such a thing as working class?
not really, these days your working class if you basically live on benefits your whole life, if you have a job you're very unlikely to be.

Bit of an outdated construct though tbh

Scum

I dont know where you live, but none of the Proms up here in Bucks are held at the schools.

They are proper events, with kids trying to outdo each other on everything from the stretch limo, the outfit, the pre/after Prom party.

Its obscene.

My neighbour had one of these pre parties... What a pile of shit! Just go over the park and get drunk before and after. Didn't even have Proms in my day

If you regularly eat pasties and beans on toast, you are working class.

Grumpster

Its everywhere now mate, a poisonous mix of peer pressure and parents keeping up with the Jones's.

Schools organise the prom events, but the kids expect to have no expense spared outfits, and transport to and from them.

Thanks, yanks.

Re: Is there such a thing as working class?
If you work for a living and paid money for it and for a boss you are working class.

Only people who live off of their wealth or investments can be considered as not working class, the unenployed excepted.

Well thats what Labour Party members always tell me anyway.

You can believe whatever you think you are I suppose.

When did the Prom come into fashion in Britain?

Wasn't around when I left school in 1990 and it is something that I would have fucking hated.

Find it bad enough having to get dressed up to go out nowadays, let alone when 15.
