I don't know what the fuck Bilic is doing. If he had started with a better formation we might have got a draw out of this at best. But we were 2 in the hole as a result. Then he does make a change and we pull one back. Then he goes to a two man front at 1-2 and we give them more room to play the possession game. On the strength of the first games this bloke is showing none of the guile that won him the acclaim last year. He has the injury excuse to hide behind but even then he is not helping himself. He needs to sort it out or it really could be his last season.

such weird criticism of Kouyate. the only time he doesn't look very good is when he is forced to play as an attacking mid which usually happens by default if Tore and Valencia are in the team because it leaves only the striker as an option who has two centre backs covering him up.
when he have a proper XI on the field, he doesn't struggle and pops up for the odd goal on a set piece. He is vital for us defensively in the midfield.

Kouyate was strangely anonymous yesterday. I was thinking that him and Noble we turning into a pretty unstoppable pairing

Kouyate is a funny one.
I can't see him ever being a top class midfielder. He doesn't quite have all the attributes needed, and it does show sometimes during the season. But he is still capable of putting in very good performances in the midfield and obviously successive managers like him there.

All about opinions, but I agree that Kouyate limits us in some games dues to his poor technique. But he has not been a CB for a long while and is a better midfielder albeit with some limitations. He is good to have in the squad but should not always start IMO. Against teh better teams like City if we are not able to keep the ball (which he contributes to), what does he do. He perhaps closes down better than I think? I will try to keep an eye on that but he certainly did a good impression of the "invisible man" these last few games.

Only just seen the goals, but as rash as Adrian's charge out seemed, most times, he would have succeeded in forcing the attacker wide giving defenders a chance to close him down, which Collins usually does so well, but you really have to applaud the little shit Sterling for thinking fast and a top quality little finish from an ridiculous angle. He won't do anything as good as that again all season, I bet.

My point was not about fault but attitude and I found it shocking. Matter of opinion of course though.

Only three players worthy of any praise in that one.
- I thought Musuaku was good again, and I'm impressed he walked that tightrope with the second yellow threatened and came through it - barely looked ruffled. He actually looks better than Cresswell, which is incredible really. - I also liked what Fletcher did in the match even though the supply to him was about as bad as you could hope to see - he runs the channels, gets through the work, drops back to cover others, plays on the shoulder. - And thank goodness Lanzini also looked industrious from the bench, playing in the role I like best for him cutting in from the flank - by god we need him.

Why was Collins "shocking" for the last goal? What did you expect him to do?

Collins was shocking for that last goal - it raises concerns about his psychic stamina.

solidbond 11:16 Sun Aug 28 Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - The Official Match Thread FT 3-1 Rh 11:03 did you see Collins 60 yard diagonal pass that landed bang on the money at Arthurs feet who then got to the bye -line to cross for Antonio to score . Watch the fucking game
I like Collins as CB and would start him every time based on current form. However, just because he played one great pass doesn't change the fact he consistently plays poor passes. He hit several that went to no-one or went straight out of play yesterday. We should avoid giving him the ball.

"Kouyate is not a central midfielder, he is a centre back, and his lack of technical ability gets shown up eventually."
I would say, Payet apart, he's been our best player in the last eight months or so. Absolutely outstanding in some games. There are very few midfielders in the league of his type that I would swap him for.
The last thing we should be thinking about is moving him to a different position. He should be one of the first names on the teamsheet.
