Westhamonline reviews Stewart Lee

This might be common knowledge but first time I've noticed. Stewart Lee uses a pithy review from westhamonline on his website
“Five minutes of Stewart Lee makes me want to kill myself . Completely unfunny, dated, painful SHIT.” Anon, westhamonline.com

Imagine posting about how shit a comedian is by using a bit of an old stand up routine about Shakespeare's comedies, that was awful when it was written 30 years ago, and trying to pass it off as your own observation.
You wank sock.

He has pushed that part of his routine too far. I get what he's trying to do, but there's only so much of it that works before it becomes fucking tiresome.

Got to agree with that. At times he can be brilliant, but the repetition can really grate. You just want to grab him and shout 'Get to the fucking point!'. I love his 'Ang Lee' bit, but it irritates me too.

It is what it is. Some of his stuff I find funny and other stuff a bit hard going. I liked his last show. His pieces to the camera.

My favourite joke of all time is his Joe Pasquale one.

His Top Gear bit is excellent, but my favourite is his Michael McIntyre bit, where he talks of Michael "..spoon feeding his audience warm diarrhoea. I won't be doing that as I haven't noticed anything about your lives as they are of no interest to me."
Having typed that out it occurs to me that it is contextually funny, and that reading it here makes the exact opposite case than was intended.

He can be very funny, (the Stand Up Comedian DVD show is brilliant) but can also be very annoying for instance when he does the regular spiel where he repeats himself over and over and over again. Usually while mocking a mainstream comedian. I was for it when he was doing it to that bungle lookalike cunt James Corden though.
I'm not a fan of comedians doing politically agendised (is that even a word?) material either, so I don't tend to like those aspects of his act.

If you ever go and watch a Shakespeare comedy there are normally a couple of English professors in there who will force a really loud laugh throughout the play just to demonstrate how clever they are getting jokes that the rest of the plebs don't understand.
The audience at his shows sound like a room full of them. Forcing themselves to laugh in case by not laughing, they will be revealed to the strangers around them as thick.
Proper emperor's new clothes.

If he had anything about him, this would be on there by next week.
Sven Roeder 11:14 Mon Jan 23 Re: Westhamonline reviews Stewart Lee Think he likes to sneer at how plebs like *shudder* football fans aren't smart enough to get how WONDERFUL he is. For his fans he is like a comedic Radiohead
The only funny thing about him is how far he pushes his own fans by being more and more obtusely unfunny and they lap up how brilliant he is. Heard he is planning to machine gun the front row in his next show and see if they still love him"

Going to see him Friday week. Looking forward to it. His Top Gear routine is excellent and well worth a watch if you haven't seen it:

Sounds like he scours the internet for mentions of his name. You can put my review up too, Stewart: "mildly amusing"

Saw him a year ago when someone who clearly had no idea who he was, or what he did, started shouting at him from the balcony. His reaction was really funny. He took the piss out of the bloke for about 5 minutes about the terrible decision he'd made to come and how he was too old to change his act now. The heckler was pissed, pissed off and fucking aggressive but I don't think I've ever seen one put back in their box was such aplomb.
