Documentaries
Need something new to watch, so thought it was time for another of these. A couple to get things going.

Milius (2013) Feature length documentary about the man who gave us everything from “Feel lucky, punk?” to “I Love the smell of napalm in the morning” and much more besides. Scorsese, Coppola, Spielberg et al line up to pay tribute.

Youth Terror, the View From Behind the Gun (1978) ABC News documentary about youth crime in New York. One for fans of ’80 Blocks from Tiffany’s” etc.

And before anyone says it: Couple of clips from the 1977/78 Thames series “This Sporting Land” Sadly, the second one’s silent stock footage, but you can’t have everything. Anyone on here spot themseves?

One of the few films that really uses 3D properly. The on-bike footage is absolutely terrifying.

Railway is booming in SE Asia , Far and Middle East

I was a fan of unions but when I worked on London Underground 50% of the staff there did nothing for maintenance or anything as at the time they unsackable, the same with BR and SMRT in Singapore.

Much of the LU and BR systems have been neglected for years and the private companies who took over don't have the background knowledge of the old school track men .

Personally I wouldn't waste money High speed it's just a Kudos thing. Spend the money on regular services and improve that before a step up to HSR

whats left of it - just a shadow now
turned into a bullshit service sector - reliant on imports
what was once self contained - and exported goods - trained communities and served the nation.

TT3D - documentary based around Guy Martin - the year he crashed and broke his back at the TT.

Its got everything - even if you've not really watched road racing you'll enjoy this.

Soundtracks. Sky Arts.

Looks at different events in history and the music that came out of said events. All been good so far but the 9/11 episode was outstanding.

I'm a peasant without Netflix so have to search YouTube mainly for Docs. Found this one and a good watch. I love a bit of. Athletics but this was just before my time.

The John Akki-Bua Story - An African Tragedy

Ugandan and 1st African to win a gold medal in a distance less than 800m (a sprint race). He won the 400m hurdles in Munich from lane 1 in a world record, beating David Hemery. It was only his 2nd season in the event. His training included running continuous 1500m reps with hurdles in the final straight wearing a 25lb jacket.

Won't ruin it but basically he was a bit unlucky having Idi Amin as his leader.

watched TAKE YOUR PILLS on netflix. a new doc about Adderall addiction in america, where a huge perecntage of the population can't function now without some sort of stimulant. not sure what type of message the director was aiming for? for me, it seemed like an advert for pill addiction

Somebody suggested a while back an American Doc that was on iplayer about Vietnam.

Next to 'The World at War' it was the best thing I've seen. A complete history of the region and how bent and twisted the US government was during the whole affair. A tragic waste of thousands of men. Gripping stuff!

If only I could remember the fucking title!
