Nationals had never even won a playoff series before this year, now they're going to the world series.

Just cant see anyone beating the Astros, in a 7 game series you'll get 2 games each from Cole and Verlander which should be enough for the 4 wins right there

Well done Washington Nationals. First team from DC to make it to the World Series since 1933. With New York and Houston looking like it’s going the distance. The Nats will have all week to savour the moment. Most people won’t give them a snowball chance in hell beating either one of the AL powerhouses. But with there own top class pitchers. They will fill they can go toe to toe with anyone.

Wonder how Bryce Harper feeling.?

tbh mate, it was my first ever game, so I only remember those three. I only knew Sax because I'd been tipped the wink that he couldn't field for toffee.

Didn't Steve Sax suffer from the Yips?

Something that Chuck Knoblauch suffered from later with the Yankees

Back in the day I saw Fernando Valenzuela v Nolan Ryan at Dodger Stadium. For that reason alone it's Astros all the way for me.

When I left work to go to physio, the Dodgers were 3-0 and cruising.
Didn't think too much more of it until I finished cricket training and saw the result.

Doesn't surprise me one bit it was bloody Joe Kelly who gave up the match-losing grand slam.

That's 2 years in a row he's fucked up the Dodgers chances.

Didn't see the Dodgers getting knocked out.

Or the Rays taking the Astros to a decider.

Houston better pull something out just to get by Tampa, and then to get their heads straightened around sharpish or else the Yankees will have them, too.

Whomever wins the AL will win the World Series though.

Re: Major League Baseball anyone?
Yeah, something like that but for a small market team, they've still won 2 world series, both of them while I was living there, Atlanta Braves and the St Louis Cardinals

Saw a thing saying Twins have now lost 16 playoff games in a row! so they've been swept the last 4 times they've made the playoffs?

Far Cough 11:05 Thu Oct 10
Re: Major League Baseball anyone?
I just knew the Twins wouldn't beat their bogey team, the Yankees

Re: Major League Baseball anyone?
Astros are still the team to beat with their 3 quality starting pitchers it will be very difficult to beat them in a longer series.

Re: Major League Baseball anyone?
Well that was a turn up for the books. The Dodgers get taken apart by the Nationals at home. And the Braves (Ain’t quite so.) Against St Louis. Got a bad feeling the Yankee’s are win it all.

Re: Major League Baseball ANYONE?
The Dodgers have started to find a little form again and Bellinger has started to bang a few more long balls, but more importantly, he's back getting on base more.

The Astros are probably the one side that can stop the Dodgers winning it.

Hope someone takes them out before the WS.

Sad to see the end of the Joe Maddon era. May be looked back upon as ultimately one of underachievement, but I will forever thank him for breaking the curse and giving me the greatest sporting fandom night of my life.

Astros v Dodgers World Series. C'mon Houston.

Re: Major League Baseball anyone?
Usually having a good ball pen is the difference in the playoffs. And the Astros have arguably the best 3 starting pitchers in baseball. With Verlander, Cole and Greinke. You may nick the odd game from them. But no chance of taking a series.

(Dons the tin hat. When they crash out.)
