The man was found injured in High Road, Ilford in east London
A murder investigation has been launched after a man was beaten to death by attackers thought to be wielding baseball bats.
The man was found injured in High Road, Ilford, east London, in the early hours of Sunday morning after being beaten by a group of men, the Metropolitan Police said.
The man was taken by ambulance to an east London hospital but was pronounced dead at about 04:30 GMT.
No arrests have been made.
Police said they are keeping an open mind regarding a motive.
The Met added that inquiries are under way to identify the man and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.
Local road closures have been put in place and buses have been re-routed.
Police have appealed for witnesses.

I remember being able to walk home pissed from Stop Outs, Arbeez or the Palais without any fears - been there a few times recently and there's loads of Romanians etc sleeping rough - wouldn't walk round there at 2 in the morning now!!!

London is no place to raise a family, unless you are super rich.
Something needs to be done as it is getting worse at an alarming rate.

Romanian gang war?

A man beaten to death with baseball bats during a fight in Ilford has been named locally as a Romanian father to a 10-year-old boy.

Sorin Serbu is originally from Bralia city, Romania, reports local news site DEBRAILA.

The 36-year-old was beaten to death by a group of around eight hooded people, all believed to be Romanian, on High Road, Ilford at around 2.48am on November 12.

Officers were called to the road after reports of a fight when they found Mr Serbu in a pool of blood but alive.

The London Ambulance Service treated an injured male at High Road and he was taken to an east London hospital.

He sadly died from his injuries at around 4.35am.

The man is the father of a 10-year-old boy.

I used to have a beer every now and then with Dick Williiams and Keith Thunder at Ilford Liberal club. Used to go there 'cos my mates step dad was the chairman or something - cab from Redbridge station, a couple of rounds of cheap Stella and a cab home for about £6 - in the days when £2of petrol would go far in my mates 3.5L Rover.

Scotty was always at some Church on Clements Road- he was gonna cane me once as I got rumbled for being in a row with Canon Palmer, decided not to as I was the House Captain for Brook!!

There's a 7kh FB page and we had a reunion at Fords ground a few years back followed by one at an Italian in Chadwell Heath

Unbelievably, Ilford was considered kind of posh years ago. My grandparents moved there from Mile End in the 50's and at one stage we had 3 branches of the family living within 400m of each other and another about 5 mins away.

None of us live there anymore and my folks were the last to leave about 5 years ago. Moved to Upminster which is stunning by comparison.

Ilford's a fucking shithole now and I'd be amazed if I ever set foot back there.

Mr Patterson still alive? haha
Who'd have thought that. He looked pretty old when I was there. Those sandals with white socks was a look! Surely he bats for the other side right?

Shame about Mr Scott and Mr Williams. Mr Scott was kind of a hard man but when i had chats with him (and he wasnt giving me detention for wearing trainers) he was ok.

I once had to go to see Mr Williams in his room and I'd never seen so many sweets and crisps on the geezers desk...

those were the days..

Ilford was considered quite posh when I grew up in the 40's & 50's and lived in Manor Park, Herbert road as a child and Parkhurst road when I got married, I went back there a couple of years ago and never again - a total dump of a place.

CoT - went to 7kh too and remember sports days at Cricklefields - moved away in 1993 - back in Redbridge now but can't really see myself staying here too long. Some of my family friends have gone to Upminster way - might go out that kinda way too - or further out.

Grew up in Ilford (Ley Street)

Went to Seven Kings High

Spent years clubbing in Ilford, Palais, 5th Av, Room at the top, Stop outs

Frequented Jakes burgers most Saturday nights, albeit that is seven kings

Swam for Ilford swimming club

Used to use Cricklefields for athletics

Moved away mid 90s, been back a few times, cannot wait to leave every time I go back - utter fucking cess pit of an area now full of gangs, violence and so on

Still have one member of the family there, more Hainault than Ilford but they are selling up and moving away early next year as it isn't a safe place for theirkids to go to school
