Re: Bitcoin
A lot of the shitcoins will. Many of them are just scams. But as long as people see crypto as a good way to store and transfer value, they will keep going.

No but cryptocurrencies might go away.

Coining it at the moment. Will cash a few out at £7k and then leave the rest for retirement or bust.

Blockchain isn’t going away.

Re: Bitcoin
My mate tried for years to get me interested and I always fobbed her off!

Last year her autistic 18 year old son bought a house for cash as he turned in some of his bitcoin, he's a bit of a whiz kid with all these crypto currencies.

Re: Bitcoin
There are much shittier things that people put money into. Note all the advertising for online gambling. Billions are poured into a system that is rigged against you with little chance of a decent return. Same with financial spread betting and lottery tickets.

More patience required Darby.
January the 17th is still about 8 weeks a way.

Cryptocurrency prices boomed in that period last year.

"Let’s revisit this in a year and see where the price is at"

Please let's do this. Bitcoin/Ethereum will have at least tripled from today's price. Get involved Darby, don't be scared little fella.

--
Bitcoin is now a third (A THIRD) of the price it was in January. Ethereum is now one eighth (ONE EIGHTH) of its price in January. If only Buffett and Dimon had listened to financial geniuses like you, Vexed.

Zeb, the reward for hashing increases at the demand goes down, as you are paid per hash. This structure ensures that'll never happen.

Read an interesting article the other day that said that Nvidia had to write down the value of their inventory due to a sharp drop in sales of GPUs that are used for crypto currency mining. That has left with a huge pile of unsold kit.
The achilles heal of cryto-currencies is that they rely on the miners to compute the hashes for blockchain. If enough of the miners give up and drop out of the game it is finished.

The problem with these currencies is there is a growing limit on any individual currency BUT UNLIMITED currencies. They are only as good as the mugs that buy in.
