Re: 2018 Movies
Aquaman is enormous fun. Momoa plays him as a huge, big-hearted, slightly dim-witted lunk. Lots of spectacle and lots of lol moments in a movie that doesn't take itself or its leading character too seriously, while avoiding the trap of making him an actual idiot. And Nicole Kidman is still ridiculously fit.

The serious critics will hate it. Audiences will love it.

Just saw Mortal Engines. Can't decide if I thought it was shit or good, but I lean towards shit. The whole thing is a stupid idea that is done well.

Finally got round to seeing “Bohemian Rapsody” last night, great film very entertaining. I suppose having Mike Myers as the boss of EMI Records in it, it was inevitable there would be a reference to Wayne’s World “No one will be banging their heads in the car to Bohemian Rapsody”

Has anybody seen 'The Girl in the Spider's Web'?

I enjoyed it. I hadn't seen any of the others nor read the books.

Got mixed reviews but enjoyed the books and the first film (not the sub-titled ones) so going to give it a whirl this weekend.

Re: 2018 Movies
Thought a star is born was fantastic. Cooper proving what an accomplished musician he is as well as director and Lady Ga Ga showing what a good actress she is.

Saw Kingsman 2 the other night. Not sure if it was from this year, but I just found out about it.
It's kind of fun, but the main character grates on me.
The best thing was Elton John's revealing a talent for comedy that I never suspected. It's worth seeing if just for that.

Saw " A Star Is Born" last night. I could go on about it for a while but firstly it was really enjoyable. The performances were brilliant and for the most part you could believe in most of it even if the last third is a bit stretching the believability. What was mostly enjoyable was the sense that you were watching a kind of rockumentary. It really felt like you were following these characters through their story. This made it feel less contrived than it could have been.
Massively recommended.

Re: 2018 Movies

"not in medieval England, no. "

but there were black people in medieval England, there were also black people as far back as Roman England.

Ok it was like walking around Croydon today, but there is enough that you don't have to get in a tismas when one turns up in a Robin Hood written like a Guy Ritchie wet dream.
