Next seasons ambition from the 2bobs
|
I can only think of three players that we have that would get into a top six side. Can see the 2bobs rubbing their hands when the big bids come in?
Aunautovic (huge unit will attract massive offers). We need to hold onto him more than any other but like Payet player power will mean they do as they want.
Lanzini (blows hot and cold, has he signed a new contract yet? Best friends with Lamela)
Antonio (body language looks like he thinks he should be playing at a bigger club. Said you can't blame Coutinho wanting to go if Barca wanted him. Noble said he disrespected the team being late. Apologised privately to Moyes. Never heard him apologise publicly to the team).
Rice looks promising, still learning his trade.
Jao Mario (jury still out looks lightweight, maybe 10-15m not 40m so unlikely to happen)
Having seen enough of the rest to make a judgement most for a number of years I have come to the conclusion that they including the keepers can all go are no where good enough technically bad passing ability positional sense unable to keep possession or defend and ageing quickly.
In summary we need a complete new defensive midfield and defence, 6 new players minimum but with the Fonte money the 2bobs have averaged net spend of £20m per year over the last 4 years. Can't see this summer being much different so that will get 2 players in those positions max. Result another relegation scrap next year.

CuRRRRRRRRRRbs.
This is WHUFC's most exciting signing for years!!! Even if it's totally made up. (A bit like most of our other "signings".)

Steve Round was previously Moyes' assistant at Everton and Man Utd and is a big MATE. Part of England set-up (under Shteve) too.
Round is currently director of football at Aston Villa but that job is strategic and long-term and doesn't involve day-to-day stuff. So for a bit of "let's play football manager", he's the perfect fit.
Of course, there's no way he's been at every / any West Ham match, but since when has fact got in the way of WHO? Mr Round. Sound as a pound.

Apparently "Mr R" pre match is playing the role of oppo manager. Assessing with the "squad" available how they would plan against us (or some such) and playing that scenario out with Moyes (that's my interpretation anyway).
Only clue is the name, plus them being an experienced player and manager, and have been at all our games except yesterday.

It is pretty obvious we are going need new keeper next season. I'd go for Sam Johnstone from Villa. ManU was pulling his loan and selling him West Brom for 4m in January. That must be close to Harts loan fee good young back up Keeper that will push Adrian and within our price bracket. However watch us go out and get Huddlesfields Back Up keeper as he will be on a FREE but HAS Premier League/International Experience.

This is interesting. Moyes got rid of some of the older players early on at Everton so he's done that before and after Slaven 'I'm your mate' Bilic it's good to see there is no room for sentimentality. I think Moyes is staying, whatever happens to us and he's planning accordingly.
The Mr R thing is interesting, but only because it's mysterious! I don't think we are gonna guess that one but I'm pleased to see Moyes feels that he needs some help with that. We know what happens when a manager doesn't listen to anyone except his yes men.

As I mentioned on another thread...due to Sullivan and his false economy he wasted £20M in fees and wages on Fibre and Snodgrass not to mention Hart and Zabaleta when that could of paid for Harry Maguire and Nathan Ake - and both were realistic signings..

Some teams actually look at the opposition and come up with a strategy to beat them. This isn’t always obvious watching West Ham Utd

If we can get 15m for Mario it would be superb.
Especially as he is only on loan from Inter.

They'll lie through their teeth. They'll leak to exwhuemployee and co that they'll super ambitious and they mean it this time.
And then they'll flog Arnie and Lanzini and blame agents and player power.

Paraphrasing latest from IronMike:
Moyes only identified 6 players of the current first XI he is bothered about keeping.
Has been usng "Mr R" an experienced former player and manager (Redknapp) to assess things pre and post game.
Has said no room for sentimentality and we have some players as fit as they can be and with the heart and attitiude but not the legs for it.
Summer could be interesting.
My guess on the 6:
Adrian, Ogbonna, Masuaku, Lanzini, Arnie, Antonio.
Rice and Fernandes I'm guessing not in the 6 as "young players".
